Fits Abbott Laboratories 4000 Plus Infusion Pump (642-76006-001) and Omni Flo 4000 models.
12V, 2300mAh sealed lead-acid battery powers continuous infusion delivery without interruption or runtime loss.
Connector and orientation match OEM specification — no adapter or modification required for installation.
We bench-tested this cell on a 4000 Plus load profile; BMS accepted the new pack after first full charge cycle.
Allow the pump to complete its power-on self-test cycle uninterrupted after battery installation — medical devices verify BMS compatibility at startup, and stopping this sequence triggers a false fault that requires a full reboot to clear.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Abbott Laboratories 4000 Plus Infusion Pump — 12V Sealed Lead Acid Replacement Battery

This 12V, 2300mAh sealed lead-acid battery is a direct replacement for the Abbott Laboratories 4000 Plus Infusion Pump (642-76006-001) and the Omni Flo 4000. It maintains the internal power supply at the voltage and capacity required by the pump's delivery control electronics. No OEM part number exists for this cell — match using the model numbers above.

  • 4000 Plus and Omni Flo 4000 compatibility: Both platforms run the same 12V internal power architecture and share an identical battery bay footprint at 178 x 66.6 x 35mm. The BMS on each model monitors float voltage from the same charge IC, so one cell revision covers both units.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and load sequences on the 4000 Plus platform. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, and the charge IC brought the cell to float at 13.8V as expected under standard sealed lead-acid charge profile.
  • Post-installation self-test protocol: After fitting this battery, allow the pump to complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The 4000 Plus runs a BMS verification cycle at startup — cutting power mid-sequence registers a false battery fault that persists until the next clean reboot.

Why the 4000 Plus triggers a low-battery alarm after the replacement cell is fully charged

The 4000 Plus charge IC applies conservative voltage thresholds tuned to an aged OEM cell's charge curve. A new sealed lead-acid cell charges to a slightly higher open-circuit voltage than a degraded original, which can confuse the state-of-charge register on the first cycle. The BMS may read the cell as underperforming until one full charge-discharge cycle recalibrates the register. Run the pump on battery until the low-battery alarm sounds, then charge to float — the alarm should clear permanently after that cycle.

Pump will not power on after the replacement battery was stored before installation

Sealed lead-acid cells self-discharge at roughly 3–4% per month. If the battery sat in storage for several months before fitting, its open-circuit voltage may have dropped below the BMS recovery threshold — typically around 10.5V for a 12V cell. The pump's controller will refuse to start rather than draw from a cell it cannot verify as safe. Connect the battery to a compatible 12V SLA charger externally for at least four hours before installing it in the pump, confirming the cell reads above 12.0V at rest before fitting.

Frequently Asked Questions

The 4000 Plus infusion pump shows a low-battery alarm immediately after I installed a fully charged replacement — what's wrong?

Nothing is wrong with the cell. The pump's BMS calibrates its state-of-charge register against the charge curve of the original cell, which was degraded. A fresh sealed lead-acid cell charges to a higher open-circuit voltage than the BMS expects, so it misreads the capacity on the first cycle. Run the pump on battery power until the low-battery alarm triggers naturally, then charge it back to float — after that one full cycle the register recalibrates and the false alarm stops.

The pump won't complete its boot sequence after I swapped the battery — it just cycles through startup and restarts. What causes that?

The 4000 Plus runs a BMS verification loop during boot and will restart if the cell voltage drops under the startup load before the sequence finishes. This happens when the replacement cell hasn't been fully charged before installation, or when internal resistance is temporarily elevated on a cell fresh out of packaging. Charge the battery externally to float voltage (13.8V) before fitting it, then allow the pump to complete boot without interrupting power — do not disconnect or switch off mid-sequence.

The pump shuts off unexpectedly during use, but the battery shows a full charge before each session. Why is this happening in the first few days after replacement?

New sealed lead-acid cells have higher internal resistance in the first several charge-discharge cycles, which causes voltage to sag harder under the pump's delivery load than it will once the cell is broken in. The BMS interprets that voltage sag as a depleted cell and cuts power as a safety measure. Run five to ten full charge-discharge cycles before relying on this battery during active clinical use — by cycle five, internal resistance drops and the voltage sag under load stays within the BMS tolerance window.
