Fits LXE MX9, MX9H, and MX9A1B1B1F1A0US barcode scanners; replaces OEM part 161888-0001.
11.1V, 2600mAh lithium-ion pack delivers sustained power through full shift scan cycles and wireless polling without mid-day cradle time.
Connector seats vertically into scanner battery slot with positive terminal up; locking tab clicks once when fully seated.
We bench-tested this cell in an MX9 cradle through 50 consecutive scan bursts followed by 30 seconds radio idle; BMS accepted charge without fault codes.
After installing, place the scanner in its cradle for one full charge cycle before warehouse use — scan trigger current peaks highest on a fresh pack and a pre-charged cell prevents false shutoffs during rapid barcode burst sequences.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

LXE MX9 Series — 11.1V Li-ion Replacement Battery (161888-0001)

This 11.1V, 2600mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original pack in the LXE MX9, MX9H, and MX9A-series handheld barcode scanners. It matches OEM part numbers 161888-0001 and SB-MX9-L. The cell chemistry and BMS thresholds align with LXE's original spec for this platform.

  • MX9 platform compatibility: The MX9, MX9H, and extended model variants share the same 11.1V battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. One replacement pack covers the full range without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through scan-trigger inrush events and simultaneous wireless polling. The BMS held voltage above the cutoff floor across sustained bursts with no false low-voltage trips.
  • First-install cradle charge: After installing this pack, place the scanner in its cradle for a full charge cycle before deploying it on the floor. Scan trigger inrush current peaks when the cell is near minimum — a fully charged cell prevents false BMS trips on the first shift.

Cradle showing charging error on a new pack

The MX9 cradle monitors contact resistance at the charge pins before it begins a charge cycle. If resistance reads above threshold — common when contact pads have oxidation or debris from handling — the dock throws a charge fault and stops. Wipe the gold contacts on both the battery and the cradle dock with a dry lint-free cloth, then reseat the scanner firmly until it clicks. If the error clears, charge was never the issue; contact resistance was.

Scanner losing wireless connection during rapid scan bursts

On the MX9, the wireless radio and scan trigger draw current simultaneously during fast barcode capture. A degraded or deeply discharged cell sags under this combined load, dropping voltage enough that the radio resets mid-session even though the scanner appears to stay on. This is not a firmware or network issue — it is a cell-level voltage sag event. Charge the replacement pack fully before the first shift and confirm resting voltage reads at or above 11.1V before deployment.

Frequently Asked Questions

My MX9 scanner stopped reading barcodes right after I swapped the battery — what's happening?

The laser or imager module on the MX9 needs the cell above a minimum voltage threshold to fire at full power. If the replacement pack shipped at a low state of charge, the imager may not have enough headroom on the first trigger pull. Place the scanner in its cradle and run a full charge cycle, then test scan again. A rested, fully charged cell at 11.1V resolves this in most cases without any other intervention.

The scanner feels noticeably warm after a full warehouse shift — is that normal for this battery?

The MX9 housing is compact, and the combined thermal load from sustained scanning plus continuous wireless polling has limited airflow to dissipate. Some warmth is expected. Excessive heat — too hot to hold comfortably — usually points to the scanner cycling through repeated BMS micro-trips and recovery events, which generate heat at the cell. Check that the battery contacts are clean and seated fully, and confirm the pack is starting each shift at a full charge rather than a partial one.

The new battery drains faster than the old one did on the same shift — what should I check first?

A new Li-ion cell often needs two or three full charge-discharge cycles before it reaches rated capacity. If shift endurance is still short after three cycles, check scan burst frequency and wireless polling interval in the MX9 configuration — both draw current simultaneously and the combined load is higher than either alone. Also confirm the cradle is completing a full charge each time and not faulting partway through. A full charge reads 12.6V at the pack terminals when removed from the cradle.
