Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Intermec SR61T / SR61 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (AB3)
This 3.7V, 2600mAh Li-ion battery replaces the OEM pack in the Intermec SR61T and SR61 handheld barcode scanners. It also fits the IP30 and IP30A sled accessories that share the same power architecture. OEM part numbers AB3, AB19, 075082-002, 075082-001, and 318-037-001 all cross to this pack.
- SR61 and IP30 platform fit: The SR61T, SR61, IP30, and IP30A share the same 3.7V single-cell architecture and battery connector pinout. The BMS handshake uses the same thermistor line across the family, so one pack covers all listed models without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through full charge and discharge sequences on the SR61T platform. The BMS held cutoff correctly at low voltage and accepted charge without fault flags across multiple cycles.
- First-shift preparation for pick-and-pack use: After installing, seat the scanner in its cradle for a complete charge cycle before use. The scan trigger draws an inrush spike each pull, and that spike is highest when the cell is near minimum. A fully charged cell prevents false BMS trips at the start of a shift.
Cradle showing a charging error on a new pack
The SR61T cradle checks contact resistance before initiating a charge cycle. If the dock contacts on either the cradle or the battery are oxidised or dirty, the cradle reports a fault rather than starting charge. This is not a fault with the cell itself. Wipe the gold contacts on the battery and cradle with a dry lint-free cloth, reseat the scanner firmly, and the charging indicator should switch to active within 30 seconds.
Scanner losing wireless connection during rapid scan bursts
The SR61T runs both its radio and its scan engine from the same cell. During a rapid scan burst, the combined draw from the imager trigger and the wireless polling interval pulls the cell voltage down sharply. If the cell is aged or sitting below 50% charge, that voltage sag can drop below the radio module's minimum operating threshold, causing a momentary disconnect. Keeping the pack above 3.5V under load prevents this — charge before high-frequency scanning sessions rather than topping up mid-shift.

Frequently Asked Questions
My SR61T scanner stopped reading barcodes right after I swapped the battery — what's happening?
The SR61T imager needs a minimum supply voltage to fire correctly — if the new pack shipped partially discharged, the cell may not be delivering enough voltage to power the scan engine at full output. This is the most common cause of read failures immediately after a swap, and it has nothing to do with the battery being faulty. Place the scanner in its cradle and charge it fully before testing the read function. Once the cell reaches a full charge, attempt a scan — read performance should return to normal.
My SR61T runs noticeably fewer scans per shift with this new battery compared to the original — what's causing that?
Shift endurance on the SR61T depends on both scan burst frequency and how often the wireless radio polls its network. If wireless polling intervals are set aggressively or the scanner is used in an area with weak signal, the radio draws more current to maintain the connection — and that compounds with the scan trigger draw. Check the wireless signal strength in your scanning area and compare it to where the previous battery was used. Reducing poll frequency in the scanner's network profile is the fastest way to recover shift endurance without changing hardware.
The SR61T gets noticeably warm on long shifts — is that a battery issue?
Sustained warmth during a long shift is normal for the SR61T because the scanner housing is compact and has limited airflow around the battery. The combination of continuous wireless radio operation and repeated scan trigger inrush generates steady heat with nowhere to dissipate quickly. If the scanner is hot enough to trigger an automatic shutdown, check that the battery contacts are clean and that the BMS isn't running a thermal protection cycle — a contact resistance issue can cause the cell to work harder than it should. After any automatic thermal shutdown, allow the scanner to cool for five minutes before resuming use.
