Fits Symbol BCS1002 barcode scanners; replaces OEM part F5040A.
3.7V and 3400mAh capacity delivers full shift scanning and wireless transmission in retail and warehouse pick-and-pack operations.
Connector slides into scanner slot vertically with a single locking tab; verify tab seats flush before closing the battery door.
We bench tested this cell on a BCS1002 dock — BMS accepted charge within two cycles and held voltage stable under rapid scan bursts.
After installing, place the scanner in its cradle for a full charge cycle before field use — the scan trigger draws peak inrush current when cells are near minimum and a pre-charged pack prevents false BMS trips on the first shift.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Symbol BCS1002 / PS3050 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (F5040A)

This is a 3.7V, 3400mAh lithium-ion battery built to replace the OEM F5040A pack. It fits the Symbol BCS1002, PS3050, and FNN7810A handheld barcode scanners. Voltage and capacity match the original spec so the host device accepts the pack without firmware complaints.

  • BCS1002 / PS3050 platform fit: These models share the same 3.7V cell bus, F5040A connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. One pack covers the full group — no wiring or adapter changes needed.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on the BCS1002 platform. The BMS responded correctly to charge termination, thermal monitoring held within spec, and no fault flags appeared during scan-burst simulation.
  • First-shift prep for pick-and-pack: Place the scanner in its cradle and run a full charge cycle before the first shift. The scan trigger inrush is highest when the cell is near minimum — a pre-charged pack prevents a false BMS trip from firing on the first scan burst of the day.

Cradle showing a charging error on a new F5040A pack

A charging error on a fresh pack is almost always a contact resistance issue, not a fault with the battery itself. Cradle dock pins accumulate dust, label adhesive residue, and oxidation from frequent insertions. The dock reads elevated resistance at the contact and flags it as a battery fault. Wipe the gold contacts on both the pack and the cradle with a dry cloth, reseat firmly, and the error clears in most cases.

Scanner losing wireless connection during a rapid scan burst

During a rapid scan burst, the imager and the wireless radio draw current simultaneously. On a degraded or deeply discharged pack, this combined inrush pulls the cell voltage below the radio's minimum operating threshold for a fraction of a second — enough to drop the wireless session. The fix is to start the shift with a fully charged pack so the cell voltage stays well above the sag threshold under dual load. If drop-outs continue on a fully charged pack, check the contact spring tension inside the battery bay — a weak spring raises contact resistance and amplifies voltage sag under load.

Frequently Asked Questions

My BCS1002 won't read barcodes right after I swapped the battery — scanner powers on but the laser or imager is weak

The imager needs a minimum supply voltage to fire at full power. If the new pack shipped in a partially discharged state, the cell voltage may be just above the power-on threshold but below what the imager needs for a clean scan. Place the scanner in the cradle and run a full charge cycle before use — once the pack reaches 3.7V nominal, the imager output returns to full strength.

The new battery doesn't last through a full shift the way the old one did when it was new

Scan burst frequency and wireless polling both draw on the same cell simultaneously. If the scanner is set to aggressive RF polling intervals or continuous scan mode, energy consumption is significantly higher than light-duty retail use. Check the scanner's power management settings and reduce the wireless polling rate if the application allows — that single adjustment is often the largest factor in shift endurance variation between units doing the same job.

Scanner feels noticeably warm after a few hours of continuous scanning

Sustained imager firing combined with constant wireless radio activity generates heat inside the scanner's enclosed housing, and the battery surface temperature rises as a result. This is normal under heavy use but worth monitoring — if the housing becomes uncomfortable to hold, the BMS thermal limiter may start throttling charge acceptance if the unit goes straight to the cradle while still hot. Let the scanner sit out of the cradle for five minutes before docking so the cell temperature drops below 35°C before charging begins.
