Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Intermec SR61T / SR61 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (AB3)
This 3.7V, 3400mAh Li-ion cell replaces the AB3 battery in the Intermec SR61T and SR61 handheld barcode scanners. It also fits the IP30 and IP30A sled. Sourced to match the original cell format and BMS handshake the SR61 dock expects.
- SR61T, SR61, IP30, and IP30A compatibility: These models share the same 3.7V battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol. One cell works across all of them without adapter or firmware adjustment.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through the SR61T's scan-trigger inrush and Bluetooth polling load simultaneously. The BMS held the output rail steady and did not trip on rapid multi-scan bursts typical of warehouse pick-and-pack workflows.
- First-shift preparation: After installing, seat the scanner in its charging cradle and run a full charge cycle before using it on the floor. Scan-trigger inrush current spikes highest when the cell is near its minimum — a fully charged pack prevents false BMS cutoffs at the start of a shift.
Cradle showing a charging error on a new pack
The SR61 charging cradle reads the pack's ID pin before it starts a charge cycle. If the dock contacts on the battery or cradle have oxidation or debris, the handshake fails and the cradle throws a charge error — even with a new cell. Wipe the gold contacts on the pack and the cradle bay with a dry cloth, reseat the scanner firmly, and check that the charge LED changes state within 10 seconds. If the error persists, check dock contact spring tension — a worn spring drops contact voltage below the 2.8V threshold the ID circuit needs.
Scanner dropping wireless connection during a rapid scan burst
When the SR61T fires its scan trigger and transmits over Bluetooth in the same instant, the combined inrush current can pull the cell voltage down sharply on a degraded or deeply discharged pack. The radio stack drops its connection when supply voltage sags below roughly 3.2V. A fresh, fully charged cell maintains output above 3.5V under this dual load. If drop-outs continue after a full charge, check the cradle contact resistance — a high-resistance dock connection limits charge acceptance and the pack never reaches full capacity.

Frequently Asked Questions
My SR61T scanner stops reading barcodes right after I swap in a new battery — what's happening?
The SR61T's laser or imager module needs a minimum supply voltage to fire reliably, and a new pack straight out of packaging may only be at 30–50% charge. At that state of charge, scan-trigger inrush pulls the cell below the imager's operating floor and the read fails. Place the scanner in its cradle and complete a full charge cycle before putting it on the floor. Once the pack is at 4.1–4.2V, scan reads will be consistent from the first trigger pull.
The scanner runs noticeably warm after a long shift — is that a battery problem or a device problem?
It is usually both contributing at once. The SR61T's housing traps heat from sustained Bluetooth polling combined with repeated scan-trigger draws, and a battery with capacity fade runs at a higher discharge rate to compensate, generating more heat per cycle. Check whether the pack is also discharging faster than it used to — that confirms cell degradation rather than a device fault. Replacing the pack and reducing wireless polling frequency in the device settings (if your WMS allows it) keeps operating temperature in the normal range.
Short shift endurance after replacing the battery — the new pack dies faster than the old one did on day one. What gives?
If the replacement pack was stored for an extended period before installation, the cell may have self-discharged to a low state and the first charge cycle from a deeply depleted cell often under-fills the pack. Run two full charge-discharge cycles through the cradle before measuring real-world endurance — the BMS recalibrates its capacity estimate across those cycles. After two full cycles, if the pack still drains faster than expected, verify the cradle output voltage at the contact pins is reaching 4.2V; a faulty dock can terminate charge early and leave the pack at 80% capacity.
