Fits JBL Free Truly charging case, replaces OEM battery GSP853450 01 directly.
3.7V, 1200mAh Li-Polymer cell powers multiple earbud charge cycles per case fill.
Connector seated flat into case dock with no locking tab — alignment is friction-fit only.
We bench-cycled this cell in the case dock; BMS accepted the new pack on first insertion without fault codes.
On first use, insert the battery and run a full charge cycle in the case before placing earbuds in — the case firmware logs the new cell capacity during this cycle.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

JBL Free Truly Charging Case — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (GSP853450 01)

This 3.7V, 1200mAh Li-Polymer battery replaces the internal cell in the JBL Free Truly wireless earbud charging case. The case uses this battery to store charge and deliver power to the earbuds between uses. When the original cell degrades, the case can no longer complete multiple earbud charging cycles before dying.

  • JBL Free Truly Charging Case fit: The Free Truly case uses a specific cell footprint — 69.30 x 30.00 x 7.10mm — with a soft Li-Polymer pouch construction. The case BMS reads cell voltage on connection. This replacement matches that voltage profile so the case fuel gauge reports correctly after installation.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on the case PCB. The BMS accepted the pack without error, and the charge indicator LEDs cycled normally through all four stages.
  • First-cycle protocol for the Free Truly case: After fitting this battery, place the case on charge via USB-C before dropping the earbuds in. Let the case reach a full charge on its own first. This lets the case BMS log the new cell capacity before it starts tracking earbud charge delivery.

Case LED showing full charge but earbuds die after one cycle

A freshly installed Li-Polymer cell ships at storage voltage — typically around 3.6V — not a fully charged 4.2V. The case fuel gauge reads the cell state incorrectly at that voltage and can report a false full. The earbuds then draw from a cell that has far less usable capacity than the gauge shows. Charge the case to 4.2V via USB-C before use and the fuel gauge re-calibrates against the actual cell state.

Case charge indicator stuck on first LED despite hours on USB-C

If the LED stays on the first bar after a full charge session, the BMS handshake between the new cell and the case PCB may not have completed on the first connection. Disconnect the USB-C cable, wait 10 seconds, then reconnect. This forces the PCB to re-poll the cell. If the indicator still does not advance, check the battery connector is fully seated — the pouch connector on this case requires firm, even pressure to engage all contacts.

Frequently Asked Questions

My JBL Free Truly case shows a full charge on the LEDs but the earbuds only get one charge out of it — why?

The new Li-Polymer cell ships at storage voltage, roughly 3.6V, and the case fuel gauge misreads that as near-full. The earbuds then draw from a cell with far less capacity than the gauge displays. Charge the case uninterrupted via USB-C to 4.2V before placing the earbuds inside — after that first full cycle the gauge tracks accurately.

The case charge indicator is frozen on one LED and won't advance even after leaving it on USB-C overnight — what's wrong?

This is a BMS handshake failure between the new cell and the case PCB. Unplug the USB-C cable, wait 10 seconds, then reconnect — this forces the PCB to re-poll the cell voltage and restart the charge sequence. If it still stalls, press the battery connector firmly and evenly into the PCB socket; the soft pouch connector on the GSP853450 01 needs full contact across all pins to initialise.

The case gets noticeably warm during charging after fitting the new battery — is that normal?

Some warmth is expected during the first few charge cycles on a new Li-Polymer cell — the cell and PCB are establishing their charge curve. The case housing is small with limited thermal mass, so heat concentrates quickly. If the case becomes too hot to hold comfortably, stop the charge, let it cool for 15 minutes, and restart — sustained temperatures above 45°C will trigger the BMS thermal cutoff and halt charging automatically.
