Fits JBL Tune 510BT and Tune 500BT wireless headsets, replacing OEM part 02-553-3494.
This 3.7V, 450mAh Li-Polymer cell restores full audio and call capacity to your headset.
Connector is a two-pin JST housing; seat firmly until the latch clicks into place.
We ran a full discharge cycle on the Tune 510BT platform; BMS accepted the handshake cleanly.
On first use, charge the headset in the base station for one complete cycle before taking calls — the base logs the new cell before talk-time estimates stabilize.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

JBL Tune 510BT / Tune 500BT — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (02-553-3494)

This is a 3.7V, 450mAh Li-Polymer cell that fits the JBL Tune 510BT and Tune 500BT wireless headphones. It replaces OEM part numbers 02-553-3494, 603028, and 523028. The cell measures 30.00 × 30.00 × 6.20mm and sits inside the left earcup housing.

  • Tune 510BT and 500BT shared platform: Both models run the same physical cell format, connector pinout, and BMS voltage thresholds — 3.7V nominal with a 4.2V charge ceiling. One part number covers both headsets.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the Tune 510BT. The BMS accepted the pack without error flags, held cutoff at 3.0V under load, and topped out cleanly at 4.2V on the charger.
  • First-charge protocol for the Tune 510BT: New cells ship at storage voltage — around 3.6V. Plug the headset into USB-C and let it charge uninterrupted to 100% before the first use. The headset's fuel gauge calibrates on that first full cycle, so the battery indicator will read accurately from that point forward.

Why the Tune 510BT cuts out mid-call on a new battery

The Tune 510BT runs its Bluetooth radio and audio codec simultaneously during calls. That combined draw creates brief current spikes the BMS reads as an undervoltage event if the cell hasn't been through a full conditioning cycle. The BMS trips the cutoff to protect the cell, dropping the audio connection. Run two or three full charge-discharge cycles and the spikes stabilise within the BMS's tolerance window.

Talk time shorter than rated on the first few charges

Li-Polymer cells don't reach full usable capacity straight out of storage. Electrolyte activation across the polymer separator takes three to five charge cycles to complete. Each cycle, the available capacity steps up incrementally until it stabilises at the rated 450mAh. If talk time feels short on the first charge, cycle the headset fully — charge to 4.2V, discharge under normal use — and repeat three times before drawing any conclusions about cell performance.

Frequently Asked Questions

My JBL Tune 510BT keeps cutting out mid-call even though the battery shows plenty of charge — what's happening?

During calls, the Tune 510BT pulls current for both the Bluetooth radio and audio codec at the same time, causing brief load spikes. If the new cell hasn't been through a full charge cycle yet, those spikes can trip the BMS undervoltage cutoff even when the indicator reads high. This isn't a faulty cell — it's the BMS protecting an unconditioned pack. Run two to three full charge-discharge cycles and the cutouts will stop.

The Tune 510BT feels noticeably warm on the left earcup during long calls — is that normal with a new battery?

The left earcup houses the cell, BMS circuitry, and Bluetooth module in a very small enclosure. Under sustained combined draw — audio streaming plus active call radio — that housing retains heat with nowhere for it to dissipate. A new cell also runs slightly less efficiently before it's conditioned, adding marginal extra heat in the first few cycles. If warmth is mild and the headset keeps functioning, it's within normal range. If the headset shuts itself off due to heat, let it cool for 10 minutes and complete two more full conditioning cycles before extended use.

The battery indicator on my Tune 510BT dropped from full to empty within minutes of starting playback after the replacement — what's wrong?

The fuel gauge on the Tune 510BT calibrates against the cell's actual charge curve. A new cell shipped at storage voltage (~3.6V) hasn't given the gauge a reference point yet. The indicator jumps erratically until the headset completes one full charge to 4.2V followed by a full discharge under use. Charge the headset uninterrupted to 100% via USB-C, use it until it powers off on its own, then recharge fully — the gauge will read accurately from that cycle forward.
