Fits JDSU Test-Um NT905 Validator and replaces OEM battery part numbers NT93, 19-3762, and NT99.
This 7.4V 2200mAh lithium-ion pack delivers 16.28Wh — sufficient for extended field measurement sessions without mid-deployment charging.
Connector slides onto the battery slot with a single locking tab; orientation is keyed and prevents reverse insertion.
We bench-tested the pack on a loaded probe circuit; BMS accepted the handshake at power-on with stable voltage delivery during sensor initialization.
After installation, run the instrument's full calibration cycle before field deployment — the validator maps battery state during calibration, and skipping this step causes premature low-battery warnings on the first measurement session.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

JDSU Test-Um NT905 Validator — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (NT93)

This 7.4V 2200mAh Li-ion pack replaces the OEM NT93 battery in the Test-Um NT905 Validator and the NT99, NT1150, and NT1155 series. It powers the instrument's active line-testing and connectivity validation circuits. Rated at 16.28Wh, it matches the original voltage and capacity spec exactly.

  • NT905 / NT99 / NT1150 / NT1155 platform fit: These models share the same 7.4V two-cell Li-ion rail, identical connector footprint, and a BMS handshake that authenticates pack voltage on startup — all four units pull from the same battery architecture.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through full charge and discharge on a field-equivalent load. The BMS held stable across the NT905's active measurement draw, with no mid-test cutoff events during probe initialisation.
  • Post-install calibration on the NT905: After fitting this pack, run the instrument through a full power-on calibration cycle before field deployment. The NT905 maps battery state during that sequence — skip it and the low-battery indicator will trigger early on your first real testing session.

NT905 BMS lockout after the unit sat unused in a carry case for months

Li-ion cells self-discharge over time. If the NT905 sat unused long enough, the pack voltage drops below the BMS recovery threshold — typically around 2.5V per cell — and the protection circuit locks the pack in a sleep state. At that point the instrument won't power on and won't register on a charger. Most NT93-format packs recover with a low-current pre-charge pulse held for 10–20 minutes before normal charging resumes. If the original OEM pack won't recover, that's the failure mode — a replacement pack resolves it immediately.

NT905 shuts down mid-measurement with no low-battery warning

This happens when the pack's cells have degraded enough that voltage sags sharply under the sustained draw of active line testing — even if the indicator showed a healthy charge before the session started. The NT905's power circuit has a hard undervoltage cutoff; when cell voltage dips below that threshold under load, the unit shuts off instantly with no warning. A fresh pack with full cell capacity holds voltage flat under that load. After fitting the replacement, run the post-install calibration cycle so the instrument recalibrates its voltage-to-percentage mapping to the new cells — this prevents the same symptom reappearing at incorrect state-of-charge readings.

Frequently Asked Questions

The NT905 powers on fine but shuts off the moment it starts a line test — is that the battery or the instrument?

That's the battery. Active line testing pulls a sustained current load that aged or degraded cells can't hold — cell voltage sags past the NT905's undervoltage cutoff and the unit shuts off instantly. The instrument itself is fine. Fit the replacement pack, run the calibration cycle from the instrument menu, then retest — the cutoff should not reappear above 3.0V per cell under load.

My NT905 won't power on at all after sitting in storage for several months — the charger shows nothing either.

The BMS has gone into sleep mode. When a Li-ion pack self-discharges below roughly 2.5V per cell, the protection circuit locks output to prevent cell damage — and the charger can't communicate with a pack in that state. Some chargers with a low-current pre-charge mode can wake the pack over 15–20 minutes; if yours doesn't, fit the replacement pack directly and the NT905 will power on normally.

The NT905 shows full battery on screen but the percentage drops to zero and resets during a USB data transfer to a PC.

USB data transfer adds a second draw on top of the instrument's own active circuits — together they exceed what a degraded pack can deliver without voltage dropout. The NT905 interprets the voltage dip as a dead pack and resets the display reading. This isn't a firmware issue. A fresh 2200mAh pack maintains voltage above the dropout threshold under combined load — confirm the replacement is fully charged before the first transfer session.
