Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Jonsered CC16i / HT24i Series — 58V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This 58V 5000mAh (290Wh) Li-ion battery fits the Jonsered CC16i cordless lawn mower, CC16i String Trimmer, HT24i Hedge Trimmer, and eight additional models in the same 58V platform. It slots into the same battery bay and connects via the same multi-pin interface as the original pack. Voltage and capacity match the stock specification exactly.
- 58V platform compatibility: The CC16i, HT24i, and the other ten models in this fit list all share the same 58V bus, connector housing, and BMS handshake protocol — which is why one pack covers the whole range without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through repeated blade-start inrush events on the CC16i deck motor. The BMS held the protection threshold correctly and did not trip on standard grass-load startup draws.
- Seasonal storage tip: Before your first mow of spring, bring the battery indoors overnight if temperatures are below 10°C. Cold Li-ion cells carry higher internal resistance, and the blade motor's inrush current can trip the BMS on a cold pack before the cells warm up.
BMS cutoff during thick-grass or wet-grass blade loads
When the CC16i cuts through dense or wet grass, blade resistance spikes and the motor draws a higher instantaneous current than it does on dry, short turf. If that draw crosses the BMS overcurrent threshold — even briefly — the BMS disconnects the pack to protect the cells. This is not a battery fault. Raising the deck height by one notch reduces the motor load enough to keep current below the cutoff point. After a BMS trip, wait 30 seconds before restarting to allow the protection circuit to reset.
Charger shows fault light after the mower sat unused all winter
Li-ion packs self-discharge slowly during storage. After several months in a cold garage, cell voltage can drop below the charger's minimum acceptance threshold — typically around 2.5V per cell — and the charger refuses to begin a charge cycle, showing a red or flashing fault indicator instead. Leave the battery at room temperature (18–22°C) for two to four hours before attempting to charge again. If the charger still shows a fault after warming, check individual cell voltage with a multimeter at the pack terminals — a reading below 42V total suggests one or more cells have dropped into deep-discharge recovery territory.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Jonsered CC16i cuts out halfway through a row, then starts working again after a minute — what's causing that?
That stop-and-restart pattern is thermal protection activating. The blade motor builds heat during continuous cutting, especially in thick or slightly damp grass, and once the pack temperature sensor hits its cutoff point the BMS disconnects output to protect the cells. It resets once the pack cools — hence the recovery after a short pause. Allow a 5-minute cooldown with the battery removed from the mower, then resume; if it trips repeatedly on the same lawn, raise the deck one notch to reduce motor load.
This new battery feels noticeably warmer than my old pack after a mow — is something wrong?
New cells run warmer than a well-used pack for the first several charge and discharge cycles because the electrolyte and electrodes are still conditioning. We measured slightly elevated surface temperatures on fresh packs for approximately the first five cycles before they stabilised. Check that the battery bay vents on the mower deck are clear of grass clippings, which trap heat against the pack. If the pack is too hot to hold after a standard mow beyond the fifth cycle, that is outside normal range and the pack should be inspected.
The CC16i feels sluggish and loses power quickly on the first cold morning of the year — is the battery failing?
This is a normal Li-ion behaviour below 10°C, not a failure. Cold temperatures increase internal cell resistance, which reduces the current the pack can deliver and makes the mower feel underpowered compared to a warm-weather session. Bring the battery indoors the night before an early-season mow — a pack at 18°C versus 4°C can deliver noticeably more usable capacity through a full cut. If sluggishness persists once the battery has warmed above 15°C, check the terminal voltage under load; it should hold above 52V during normal cutting.
