Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

K-Touch U9 — 3.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (AP18)
This is a 3.8V, 1550mAh Li-ion replacement cell for the K-Touch U9 smartphone. It fits the U9 model only and matches the OEM part number AP18. Install it when the original cell no longer holds a usable charge or fails to power the device.
- K-Touch U9 fitment: The AP18 cell uses the same voltage rail, physical footprint (51.40 × 51.00 × 5.50mm), and connector pinout as the factory cell. The BMS communicates with the U9's charge IC on the same protocol — no adapter or modification needed.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a U9 unit and confirmed the BMS handshake, charge termination, and over-discharge cutoff all triggered at expected thresholds. The fuel gauge IC accepted the cell without error flags.
- First-cycle fast charge tip: On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one full discharge-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC recalibrate its coulomb counter against the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging begins on an uncalibrated cell.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the K-Touch U9 after a cell swap
The U9's fuel gauge IC stores a learned discharge curve from the original cell. When a new AP18 cell goes in, the IC still references the old curve. At around 20–30% reported charge, the new cell's actual voltage drops below what the modem and display draw can sustain — the phone shuts off even though the gauge reads capacity remaining. One complete slow discharge to 0% followed by a full uninterrupted charge resets the coulomb counter and aligns the gauge to the new cell. After that cycle, the shutdown threshold tracks correctly.
OS battery percentage jumping erratically after replacement
Erratic percentage jumps — such as dropping from 60% to 30% in seconds or bouncing between values — indicate the fuel gauge IC is recalibrating against an uncalibrated cell. This is not a fault with the cell itself. The IC's coulomb counter has no reference data for the AP18's actual capacity and internal resistance yet. Run two full discharge-charge cycles without interruption and without fast charging enabled; the percentage readout stabilises once the IC builds a consistent discharge profile. After the second cycle, charge the phone to 100% before normal use.

Frequently Asked Questions
The K-Touch U9 won't turn on at all after sitting in a drawer for months — is the new AP18 battery dead on arrival?
Most likely the original cell dropped below 2.5V during storage, and the BMS locked out to prevent cell damage. The new AP18 cell arrives at a partial charge, so if the phone still won't power on after installing it, connect a known-good charger and leave it for 15–20 minutes before attempting to boot — the charge IC needs to push the cell above the BMS re-initialisation threshold of around 3.0V before the phone will respond to the power button. If the screen shows a low-battery animation within that window, the cell is fine and recovery is in progress.
Fast charging stopped working on the K-Touch U9 right after I installed the replacement battery — was it working before?
On the first cycle after a cell swap, the phone's charge IC may not immediately negotiate the fast charge handshake with the new BMS. The IC checks internal resistance and cell state before allowing elevated current — on a fresh, uncalibrated cell this check often defaults to standard charge rates. Run one full standard charge to 100%, discharge normally, then charge again; most U9 units restore fast charge negotiation on the second cycle. Do not force fast charge on the first cycle regardless.
The K-Touch U9 gets noticeably warm near the battery compartment during charging after fitting the AP18 — is that normal?
A new high-impedance cell generates more heat during the first few charge cycles than a broken-in cell does. The charge IC on the U9 pushes current into a cell with higher internal resistance than it's calibrated for, which produces moderate warmth at the battery. This reduces after two or three full cycles as internal resistance drops and the IC adjusts current delivery. If the phone becomes hot to the touch — not just warm — or shows a temperature warning on screen, remove the charger and let it cool to room temperature before resuming.
