Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Karcher RCF 3 / RCV 5 — 14.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (D099-4S2P)
This is a 14.4V 6700mAh Li-ion battery for the Karcher RCF 3 robotic floor cleaner and RCV 5. It replaces OEM part D099-4S2P. The battery slots into the same bay and connects through the same BMS handshake as the original unit.
- RCF 3 and RCV 5 compatibility: Both models run a 14.4V architecture with the same connector pinout and expect the same BMS communication protocol. Swapping between them does not require any adapter or firmware change on the unit.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell pack through vacuum motor load on the RCF 3 platform. The BMS held cutoff thresholds correctly, and charge acceptance across a full depletion-to-full cycle matched rated capacity without voltage drop anomalies.
- Dock charging habit for robotic vacuums: The RCF 3 returns to its dock automatically, which means the battery can sit on trickle charge for days between cleaning cycles. Remove the battery or undock the unit once charging is complete — continuous dock charging accelerates capacity fade on lithium cells faster than normal cycling does.
Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low on the RCF 3
This happens when the motor draws above its rated current — usually from a partially blocked filter or debris pickup channel. The battery voltage sags under the elevated load, and the vacuum loses suction force even though the indicator still shows charge remaining. The BMS reads pack voltage, not motor load efficiency, so the indicator lags behind actual usable capacity. Clean the filter and check the brush roll channel first; if suction restores, the battery is not the cause.
RCF 3 motor cuts out mid-cycle then restarts on its own
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a battery failure. When the brush roll or suction path is restricted, motor current spikes above the cell pack's safe discharge threshold and the BMS opens the circuit. The unit recovers once the BMS timer resets — typically a few seconds. If the cut-out recurs consistently, check the filter for blockage before replacing the battery. A clean filter drops motor draw back within the 14.4V pack's rated discharge window and stops the trips.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Karcher RCF 3 has noticeably shorter cleaning cycles than it used to — filter is clean and there's no blockage. What's causing the capacity loss?
Continuous dock charging is the most common cause on robotic vacuums. When the RCF 3 auto-docks after every run, the battery sits on low-level charge current for hours or days at a time, which degrades lithium cell capacity faster than normal discharge cycling. This is trickle charge damage, not a fault in the battery chemistry itself. Once capacity is lost this way it does not recover — replace the battery and from that point remove the unit from the dock once the charge indicator shows full.
The RCF 3 cuts out after about a minute of running, then restarts when I press the button — happens repeatedly on the same cleaning pass.
That pattern is a BMS overcurrent trip caused by the motor pulling more current than the cell pack allows. It usually means there's a partial restriction in the brush roll housing or suction channel that the filter check alone won't catch — hair wrap around the axle is a common one. Clear the brush roll completely, then run the unit again. If the cut-outs stop, the battery is fine; if they continue on an unrestricted machine, the replacement cell pack's BMS threshold may need re-initialisation — run a full discharge to auto-shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% before the next cycle.
This replacement battery won't charge on the RCF 3 dock — the dock light doesn't respond at all when the unit sits on it.
Some robotic vacuum chargers verify a BMS handshake before passing current — if the replacement cell's BMS doesn't respond within the expected window, the dock stays inactive. Try charging the battery directly via a compatible 14.4V Li-ion charger bypassing the dock to confirm the cells accept charge. If they charge externally but not on the dock, the issue is the handshake timing between this BMS and the dock controller. Seat the battery firmly, ensure the dock contacts are clean, and attempt a cold start — remove the battery for 60 seconds, reinsert, and place on the dock immediately.
