Fits Nokia N4 smartphone model I736, replacing the OEM 3.7V lithium-ion cell that powers calls, messaging, and apps.
This 3.7V 1500mAh cell delivers the voltage and capacity the N4's modem and screen require without drooping under load.
Connector slides straight into the battery slot with no adapter needed — identical form factor to the original pack.
We bench-tested this cell in the N4 platform; the BMS accepted full charge cycles without early cutoff or thermal rise.
On first use after installation, complete one full discharge-charge cycle before enabling any fast charging — this lets the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell's discharge curve.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

KNmobile Nokia N4 (I736) — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 3.7V, 1500mAh Li-ion battery for the Nokia N4 smartphone, model I736. It replaces the original cell when the phone no longer holds a charge or shuts down unexpectedly. Dimensions are 65.80 × 43.90 × 5.10mm — confirm against your existing cell before installing.

  • Nokia N4 I736 fit: The I736 uses a fixed voltage rail at 3.7V nominal with a specific connector orientation and BMS handshake tied to this cell footprint. Swapping to a different cell profile breaks that handshake and can prevent the phone from powering on at all.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on an I736 unit. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, charge termination triggered correctly at 4.2V, and the fuel gauge IC began tracking state-of-charge within one full cycle.
  • First-cycle calibration tip: On first use after installation, disable fast charging if the phone supports it. Run one complete discharge-to-charge cycle at standard current. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging pushes current into an uncalibrated cell — otherwise percentage readings will drift.

Why the Nokia N4 reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap

The I736's fuel gauge IC stores a learned discharge curve from the original cell. When a new cell goes in, that stored curve no longer matches the actual cell chemistry and capacity. The phone reads voltage and maps it to a percentage using the old data — so it can show 40% when the cell is closer to 15%. One full discharge-charge cycle at standard current forces the IC to re-learn the curve and bring percentage reporting back into alignment.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell

This is a voltage cliff issue, not a capacity defect. Under heavy load — modem activity, screen at full brightness, active apps — the cell voltage drops faster than the fuel gauge IC predicts. When voltage hits the BMS cutoff threshold (typically around 3.0–3.2V under load), the phone shuts down even though the displayed percentage looks safe. The fix is to let the fuel gauge complete two or three full cycles so it can account for the cell's internal resistance under real load conditions. After recalibration, shutdowns at 20–30% should stop.

Frequently Asked Questions

The N4 won't turn on at all after I put the new battery in — screen stays completely black.

This is most likely a BMS lockout from deep discharge during storage. If the cell voltage dropped below 2.5V before installation, the BMS shuts down all output to protect the cell. Plug the phone into a wall charger — not a computer USB port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing power. The charge IC needs to trickle current into the cell until it recovers above 3.0V before the BMS will allow normal operation.

Fast charging stopped working after I replaced the battery on my Nokia N4 — it only slow charges now.

The USB-PD or proprietary fast-charge handshake on the I736 runs through the BMS. On the first cycle with a new cell, the BMS often defaults to standard charge current until it has verified cell impedance is within expected range. Run one full standard charge cycle to completion, then reconnect the charger — fast charging typically resumes from the second cycle onward once the BMS has validated the cell.

The battery percentage on my N4 jumps around erratically — it skips from 55% down to 30% in seconds.

Erratic percentage jumps happen when the coulomb counter inside the fuel gauge IC is working from stale calibration data left over from the old cell. The counter tracks charge flow accurately, but the percentage conversion uses a stored capacity model that no longer matches the new cell. Drain the phone fully until it shuts itself off, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without removing the charger — this gives the IC a full reference cycle to reset its capacity model and smooth out the percentage readout.
