Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Kyocera DuraTR / E4750 — 3.85V Li-ion Replacement Battery (SCP-71LBPS)
This is a 3.85V, 2700mAh (10.4Wh) Li-ion cell built to fit the Kyocera DuraTR and E4750 smartphones. It matches the OEM footprint at 76.60 × 51.00 × 5.65mm and uses the same SCP-71LBPS / 5AAXBT108GEA part numbers. Drop this in when the original cell no longer holds a usable charge through a standard day.
- DuraTR and E4750 shared platform: Both devices run the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — the same cell serves both without any modification to the contacts or housing.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the DuraTR platform. The BMS negotiated charge termination correctly, and the coulomb counter registered capacity within expected tolerance of the 2700mAh rating.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After installation, disable fast charging and run one full discharge down to automatic shutdown, then charge to 100% uninterrupted. This gives the fuel gauge IC one clean cycle to map its reference curve against the new cell before fast-charge current is applied to an uncalibrated state.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the DuraTR after a cell swap
The DuraTR's fuel gauge IC retains the discharge curve from the old, degraded cell. When the modem fires a high-current burst or the screen peaks in brightness, the new cell's voltage profile doesn't match the stored curve. The phone interprets the voltage reading as critically low and shuts down — even though actual capacity remains. One complete discharge-to-shutdown and full recharge cycle forces the IC to relearn the new cell's voltage-to-capacity relationship and eliminates most premature shutdowns.
USB fast charging not activating on the first cycle after replacement
On the initial charge after a cell swap, the charge IC may default to a low-current trickle mode while it verifies the new cell's internal resistance and BMS response. This is normal behaviour — the phone is not faulted. If fast charging still won't engage after the first full cycle, check that the cable supports the required current rating and that the adapter output matches the phone's charge profile. Fast charging typically resumes normally from the second cycle onward once the BMS has confirmed the new cell is within safe parameters.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Kyocera DuraTR keeps shutting off at around 25% battery — is the new cell defective?
The cell itself is almost certainly fine. The fuel gauge IC in the DuraTR calibrated its shutdown threshold against the old degraded cell, so it's reading the new cell's voltage curve incorrectly and triggering a premature cutoff. Run one full discharge — let the phone shut down on its own — then charge to 100% without interruption. After that single cycle the IC recalibrates and the early shutdowns stop.
The battery percentage on my DuraTR keeps jumping around erratically after I fitted the new battery — what's happening?
The coulomb counter is recalculating against a cell it hasn't mapped yet. Until it completes at least one full discharge-charge reference cycle, percentage readings can jump 5–15% in either direction under varying screen and modem loads. Do not top up repeatedly during this break-in period — let the phone discharge to automatic shutdown once, then charge straight to 100%. The readings stabilise after that cycle is complete.
My DuraTR won't turn on at all after the replacement battery sat in the phone for a few weeks without charging — how do I recover it?
If the cell discharged below approximately 2.5V while sitting idle, the BMS trips into lockout mode to prevent charging a dangerously depleted cell. Plug the phone into a wall adapter — not a computer USB port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. The charge IC applies a slow pre-charge current to bring the cell above the BMS recovery threshold, after which normal charging resumes and the phone powers on. If there is no response after 45 minutes on the wall charger, verify the adapter is delivering at least 5V 1A.
