The U470 system info shows this battery as 41Wh but the spec says 54.39Wh — did I get the wrong battery?

You have the right battery. The Wh figure shown in system info is pulled from the EEPROM on the BMS board, which often carries the OEM's rated value rather than the actual cell chemistry capacity. The discrepancy is a reporting artefact, not a capacity loss. Run two full charge and discharge cycles and check the figure again — on some U470 units the BIOS updates the displayed value after the learn cycle completes.

New battery installed, charges fine, but the U470 cuts out unexpectedly when the screen brightness and CPU load are both high — what's happening?

Under combined CPU and display load, instantaneous current draw spikes and the cell voltage sags sharply. If the fuel gauge IC hasn't fully calibrated yet, it misreads that sag as a low-voltage fault and triggers an emergency shutdown. Run two full calibration cycles — discharge to hibernate, charge to 100% uninterrupted — so the fuel gauge learns the new cell's voltage-under-load profile. After calibration, the shutdown threshold will track the actual cell voltage rather than a misfired sag reading.
