Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Lenovo Vibe Shot / Vibe Max Z90 Series — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BL246)
This is a 3.8V, 2900mAh Li-Polymer replacement battery for the Lenovo Vibe Shot and Vibe Max Z90 series smartphones. Part number BL246 fits the Vibe Shot, Vibe Max Z90, Z90-3, and Z90-7. Capacity is rated at 11.02Wh and the cell dimensions are 76.50 × 55.63 × 4.04 mm.
- Vibe Shot and Vibe Max Z90 platform fit: The Vibe Shot and Vibe Max Z90 variants share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — that's why a single BL246 part number covers all four models. The charge IC on each device reads the same NTC thermistor response from this cell.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge and discharge cycles on the Vibe Shot platform. The BMS accepted the cell without error flags, the charge IC reached full termination current correctly, and the fuel gauge IC tracked state-of-charge without resetting mid-cycle.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-to-charge cycle at standard rate. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging pushes current into an uncalibrated coulomb counter.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Vibe Shot after a cell swap
A new Li-Polymer cell has a slightly different voltage-versus-capacity curve than the aged cell it replaces. The Vibe Shot's fuel gauge IC still holds the old curve in memory, so it misreads the actual state of charge. When the modem fires a transmit burst or the screen brightness peaks, current draw spikes and the cell voltage drops sharply — crossing the hardware cutoff before the gauge shows zero. One full discharge and recharge cycle at standard rate rewrites the coulomb counter baseline and clears this.
BL246 replacement not accepted by fast charge on first plug-in
Lenovo's charge IC on the Vibe Max Z90 series runs a handshake check on the first charge cycle after a new cell is detected. If the BMS on the replacement cell hasn't completed its first initialisation, the charge IC falls back to standard 5V/1A input and ignores the fast-charge path. This isn't a fault — plug in, let the first cycle complete fully at the standard rate, then unplug and replug. Fast charge negotiation restarts cleanly and should engage within 30 seconds of reconnection.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Lenovo Vibe Shot shuts off at around 25% after I put in the new BL246 — is the battery faulty?
The battery isn't faulty — the fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve. When the modem or display pulls a current spike near that state-of-charge, the cell voltage drops below the hardware cutoff before the percentage hits zero. Run one full discharge down to auto-shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% at standard rate. That single cycle resets the coulomb counter and the premature shutdowns stop.
The Vibe Shot's battery percentage jumps around erratically after I replaced the BL246 — sometimes it gains 5% without charging.
This is the fuel gauge IC recalibrating against the new cell's impedance profile. The old cell had measurable internal resistance that the gauge factored into its voltage-to-percentage conversion — the new cell has much lower impedance, so the same voltage now maps to a different percentage. The gauge corrects itself over two to three full charge-discharge cycles. Do not interrupt those cycles with partial top-ups; let each one run from auto-shutdown all the way to the full-charge termination signal.
My Vibe Max Z90 won't power on at all after the BL246 sat in storage for a few months before I installed it.
If the cell self-discharged below approximately 2.5V during storage, the BMS has entered lockout mode to prevent damage to the lithium cells. The phone won't boot because the BMS blocks output until voltage recovers. Connect the phone to a wall charger — not a USB port — and leave it for 20 to 30 minutes without pressing the power button. The charge IC will trickle current into the cell until the BMS exits lockout, at which point the phone will either boot or show the charging indicator.
