  • A9 platform compatibility: The A902RM, A929KVM, and A9M share the same 25.55V battery architecture, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. A single cell format covers all three because LG standardised the power pack across this generation of Cord Zero vacuums.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge and discharge cycles on the A9 platform. The BMS communicated correctly with the vacuum's charge management circuit, and no overcurrent trips occurred during motor start-up or sustained suction load on carpet.
  • Dock charging behaviour on the A9: Remove the vacuum from the charging dock once the indicator shows full. The A9 dock does not cut trickle current cleanly, and cells left on continuous dock charge lose measurable capacity within a few months. Charge only when depleted, then disconnect.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low

This happens when the motor draws more current than the BMS expects — usually caused by a partially blocked filter or brush roll restriction, not a failing battery. The BMS reads the voltage sag from that elevated draw as a low-charge condition and throttles motor power early. Clean the filter and check the brush roll for hair wrap before replacing the battery. A clear airpath keeps motor current inside the BMS's rated window and restores full suction.

Motor cuts out mid-clean and restarts after a few seconds

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. Sustained restricted airflow — blocked filter, full dustbin, or tangled brush — pushes motor draw past the pack's overcurrent threshold. The BMS disconnects the output to protect the cells, then resets after a brief cooldown. Clear the filter and empty the bin first. If the cutout persists on an unobstructed vacuum, check that pack voltage reads at least 24V under load with a multimeter at the terminal.

My LG Cord Zero A9 loses suction well before the battery light shows low — is this a battery problem?

Usually not the battery. A partially blocked filter forces the motor to draw more current than rated, and the BMS interprets that voltage sag as a depleted pack — cutting power early. Clean the foam and mesh filters and check the brush roll for hair wrap before assuming the cell is at fault. If suction returns to full strength after clearing the airpath, the battery is fine.

The A9 motor keeps cutting out for a few seconds then coming back on — what's causing it?

That's a BMS overcurrent trip. When airflow is restricted — blocked filter, full dustbin, or a tangled brush roll — motor current spikes above the pack's protection threshold and the BMS shuts output to guard the cells. It resets automatically after a short cooldown. Clear the blockage first; if the cutout still happens on a fully clear vacuum, measure pack voltage at the terminals — it should hold above 24V under load.

My original A9 battery faded fast after about six months — how do I stop that happening with this replacement?

Continuous dock charging is the main cause. The A9 charging dock doesn't cleanly cut trickle current when the pack is full, so cells sitting on the dock absorb a low-level charge that degrades capacity over time. Charge the battery only when it's depleted, wait for the indicator to show full, then lift the vacuum off the dock and store it upright off charge until the next use.
