Fits LG GD580 and GD580 Lollipop smartphones; replaces OEM part LGIP-470N.
Voltage 3.7V, capacity 700mAh — standard output for this phone's modem and display load.
Connector slides into the battery slot with a single locking tab on the left edge.
We bench tested this cell at full discharge; BMS accepted charge without cutoff or thermal rise.
On first use after installation, run one complete charge-discharge cycle without interruption to let the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against this cell's discharge curve.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

LG GD580 / GD580 Lollipop — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (LGIP-470N)

This is a 3.7V, 700mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the LG GD580 and GD580 Lollipop smartphones. It replaces OEM part numbers LGIP-470N and SBPL0098601. Use it when the original cell no longer holds a charge or causes unexpected shutdowns.

  • GD580 and GD580 Lollipop compatibility: Both models run the same 3.7V single-cell architecture with the same connector pinout and BMS handshake protocol. One cell fits both variants without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the GD580 platform. The BMS accepted the charge IC handshake correctly on the first cycle, and protection circuits triggered at expected voltage thresholds under simulated load.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After fitting this cell, disable any fast-charge mode and run one complete discharge-to-charge cycle at standard current. The GD580 fuel gauge IC calibrates its coulomb counter against the cell's actual discharge curve on that first cycle — skipping this step causes the percentage display to read inaccurately for several subsequent cycles.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the GD580 after a cell swap

A new cell has a discharge curve the phone's fuel gauge IC has never seen. The IC estimates remaining charge using a stored model built around the old cell. When the new cell's voltage drops sharply under screen or modem load — typically around 3.6–3.65V — the phone interprets that sag as a critical low-voltage event and cuts power, even though the percentage display still reads 20–30%. Running one full discharge-charge cycle lets the coulomb counter build an accurate model for the replacement cell. After that cycle, the shutdowns stop.

GD580 not powering on after the battery sat discharged in storage

Li-ion cells drop below 2.5V per cell during extended storage without a charge. When that happens, the BMS locks out to prevent damage from a deep-discharge charge event. The phone shows nothing — no boot screen, no charging indicator. Connect the phone to a wall adapter, not a PC USB port, and leave it for 15–20 minutes without attempting to power it on. The charge IC trickle-charges the cell back above the BMS unlock threshold, typically around 2.9V, at which point the BMS re-initialises and normal charging resumes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my LG GD580 show a different battery percentage after I fitted the new cell?

The fuel gauge IC in the GD580 uses a coulomb counter calibrated to the discharge curve of the original cell. A replacement cell has a slightly different curve, so the stored model is off until the phone measures the new cell directly. Run one full discharge — let it reach shutdown — then charge to 100% without interruption. After that single cycle the percentage display tracks correctly.

The GD580 feels warm near the battery compartment while charging the new cell — is that normal?

A new cell starts with higher internal impedance than a broken-in one. The charge IC pushes current into that higher resistance, which generates more heat than you'd see on a used cell. This is most noticeable on the first two or three charge cycles. Keep the phone out of a case during those initial charges so heat can dissipate, and the warmth drops to normal levels as impedance settles.

Fast charging stopped working on my GD580 after fitting the replacement battery — what happened?

The GD580's charge controller negotiates current limits with the BMS on each power-on. On the first cycle after a cell swap, some BMS units respond conservatively and cap input current at the standard rate until they confirm cell health. Charge the phone to 100% and allow it to power cycle fully — disconnect and reconnect the charger. The controller renegotiates the handshake on that second connection, and fast-charge current resumes at the correct level.
