Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

LifeShield WGC1000 / LS280 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (100000672)

This 3.7V, 2800mAh Li-ion battery replaces part number 100000672 in LifeShield wireless remote controls. It fits the WGC1000 and LS280 models used with LifeShield security and home automation systems. Voltage and capacity match the original spec exactly.

  • WGC1000 and LS280 compatibility: Both models use the same 3.7V single-cell Li-ion pack with identical connector pinout and BMS handshake. The shared form factor — 50.39 x 36.81 x 18.44mm — means the same cell seats correctly in either housing without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the bench and confirmed the BMS holds the cutoff voltage correctly at both the low-cell and overcharge thresholds. IR LED output stayed consistent across the discharge curve.
  • Single-cell install note: This remote runs on one Li-ion cell, not two alkalines. Confirm the polarity markings in the battery bay before seating the pack — the positive terminal orientation on Li-ion packs differs from what most users expect coming from alkaline replacements.

Why the WGC1000 remote stops responding even with a charged battery

The LifeShield WGC1000 uses an IR LED that requires a stable voltage above roughly 3.5V to fire consistently. As a Li-ion cell ages and its internal resistance climbs, the voltage sags below that threshold under the brief high-current draw of each button press — even if a resting voltage check still reads 3.6V. The BMS may also trip a protection circuit if the cell has been deep-discharged below 2.5V at any point, locking output entirely. Replacing the cell resets both conditions.

Remote not working at all immediately after battery swap

This is almost always a polarity reversal. Li-ion pack connectors on the WGC1000 and LS280 are easy to seat backwards — the housing doesn't physically prevent it. A reversed connection delivers no voltage to the control board, so the remote shows zero response. Pull the battery, check the positive and negative markings against the bay labels, reseat the pack in the correct orientation, and the remote should respond immediately.

Frequently Asked Questions

My WGC1000 remote worked fine for a few months after the new battery install, but now I have to stand right next to the panel for it to register — what's happening?

The IR LED in the WGC1000 needs a stable supply voltage to drive adequate signal strength. When the cell drops below around 3.5V under load, LED output falls and effective range shrinks — the remote still fires, but only at close range. A resting voltage reading on a multimeter can look acceptable at 3.6V while the under-load sag is already killing IR distance. Replace the battery and check that the new cell reads above 3.7V at rest before installing.

My LifeShield remote eats through batteries much faster than it used to — the replacement only lasted a few weeks. What causes that?

A stuck or partially depressed button creates a continuous parasitic draw on the cell, draining it far faster than normal intermittent use would. Check each button on the WGC1000 face — press and release every key and confirm none stays slightly recessed or spongy. If a button is sticking, debris or a worn contact is the likely cause. Clear the button well, confirm full spring-back on every key, then install a fresh battery.

After sitting unused for several months, my LifeShield remote won't respond at all even though I just charged it — is the battery dead?

Li-ion cells left discharged for extended periods can drop below 2.5V, at which point the BMS locks the output circuit as a protection measure. A standard charger often won't re-engage a cell in this state because the BMS blocks the charge path. We found that applying a slow pre-charge at a low current for 15–30 minutes can bring the cell voltage back above the 3.0V threshold where the BMS re-enables normal charging. If the cell won't recover past 3.0V after a slow pre-charge attempt, the cell is unrecoverable — install a replacement.
