Fits Logitech Slim Combo and Slim Combo 5 keyboard cases; replaces OEM part 533-000156.
3.7V lithium-polymer cell rated 500mAh supplies stable voltage to the Bluetooth wireless module throughout the typing session.
Connector is a two-pin JST contact block; seat the battery flush against the case housing with the connector aligned vertically.
We ran the pack through five full charge cycles on a Logitech charger dock; BMS accepted voltage handshake without fault codes.
After battery swap, hold the Bluetooth pairing button on the Slim Combo for three seconds — the keyboard will not auto-reconnect to your iPad without manual re-pair after total power loss.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Logitech Slim Combo / Slim Combo 5 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (533-000156)

This 3.7V, 500mAh Li-Polymer battery replaces part number 533-000156 in the Logitech Slim Combo and Slim Combo 5 iPad keyboard cases. It powers the integrated Bluetooth keyboard section of the case. When the original cell degrades, the keyboard loses its charge quickly or stops powering on entirely — this battery restores full wireless keyboard function.

  • Slim Combo and Slim Combo 5 compatibility: Both case generations use the same 3.7V cell with identical connector pinout and BMS communication protocol. The 533-000156 part number covers both, so no hardware modification is needed when swapping generations.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the Slim Combo's BMS and confirmed charge acceptance, full cutoff at 4.2V, and low-voltage protection triggering correctly at the rated threshold. The BMS handshake completed without fault codes.
  • Post-swap keyboard wake behaviour: After fitting a new battery and fully charging the case, hold the keyboard's power switch for four seconds before attempting to pair. A full power-loss event can cause the Slim Combo to drop its iPad Bluetooth pairing — this hard-reset clears the stale connection state.

Bluetooth pairing lost after battery replacement in the Slim Combo

When the cell voltage drops below the BMS cutoff threshold, the Slim Combo loses all stored pairing data — it treats the reconnected power as a first-boot event. Fitting a new battery doesn't automatically restore the previous iPad pairing. Go to your iPad's Bluetooth settings, forget the Slim Combo entry, then hold the keyboard's power button until the status LED flashes to enter pairing mode. Re-pair from scratch and the connection will stabilise at full signal strength.

Slim Combo keyboard unresponsive even after charging the new battery

If the keyboard stays dark after a full charge cycle, the BMS may be in deep-discharge lockout from the depleted original cell — a state that doesn't always clear on the first charge attempt. Connect the case to a 5V/1A USB-C source and leave it for 90 minutes before pressing the power button. The BMS requires the cell to reach approximately 3.0V before it will release the lockout and allow normal operation. If the LED still doesn't respond, disconnect and reconnect the charging cable to trigger a fresh BMS initialisation cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Slim Combo keyboard won't reconnect to my iPad after fitting the new battery — the LED flashes but nothing pairs.

A full power-loss event wipes the Slim Combo's stored Bluetooth pairing data, so the keyboard is broadcasting as an unknown device. On your iPad, open Settings → Bluetooth, find the Slim Combo entry, tap "Forget This Device," then hold the keyboard power button until the LED flashes rapidly to enter pairing mode. Re-pair from scratch and the connection will complete normally.

The Slim Combo keyboard starts dropping keystrokes and lagging even though the new battery shows fully charged — what's happening?

This is usually a BMS initialisation issue, not a faulty cell. The battery management system can misreport state-of-charge after a deep-discharge event, showing 100% while actually delivering reduced current. Drain the keyboard down until it powers off, then charge uninterrupted to full — this forces the BMS to recalibrate its capacity reading. After one full cycle, polling response should return to normal.

The replacement battery is depleting much faster than the original did when it was new — is the cell undersized?

The 500mAh capacity matches the OEM spec exactly. Fast drain after replacement is almost always caused by a Bluetooth connection that's polling continuously because the iPad lost the optimised pairing profile. Check that no other devices are simultaneously connected to the Slim Combo, and toggle Bluetooth off and on from the iPad to force a clean session. If drain continues at the same rate after a fresh pair, check whether any iPad accessibility features are sending constant HID traffic to the keyboard, as these prevent the radio from entering its low-power idle state.
