Fits Magellan RoadMate 5045, RoadMate 5045-LM, and RoadMate 5045LM GPS navigators; replaces OEM part 03A250XEQ0301.
3.7V, 720mAh lithium-ion cell delivers 2.66Wh to restore full charge cycles on this portable navigator.
Connector is a two-pin JST-style interface with polarized fit; physical dimensions are 50 x 35 x 6mm.
Bench test showed normal BMS current draw at idle and stable voltage delivery under navigation load without cutoff.
After fitting this cell, power the GPS fully on outdoors and allow it to acquire satellite fix before navigation — GPS requires a cold start after power interruption that takes 5–10 minutes for first fix.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Magellan RoadMate 5045 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (03A250XEQ0301)

This 3.7V 720mAh Li-ion cell replaces OEM part 03A250XEQ0301 in the Magellan RoadMate 5045, 5045-LM, and 5045LM portable GPS navigators. It restores battery-powered navigation when the original cell no longer holds a charge. Dimensions are 50.00 x 35.00 x 6.00mm — verify against your existing cell before fitting.

  • RoadMate 5045, 5045-LM, and 5045LM fit: All three variants share the same PCB layout, connector pinout, and battery bay dimensions. The BMS on this cell communicates with the charge controller on all three boards without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a RoadMate 5045 unit. The BMS engaged correctly at low-voltage cutoff, and the charge circuit accepted the cell without fault codes or cutoff interruptions.
  • Cold-start satellite acquisition after swap: After fitting this cell, power the unit on outdoors and let it acquire a full satellite fix before driving. A cold start after complete power removal takes 5–10 minutes for first fix. Subsequent warm starts drop back under a minute once almanac data is cached.

GPS accuracy reduced at low battery on the RoadMate 5045

The RoadMate 5045 scales back receiver sensitivity as voltage drops toward the cutoff threshold. This happens before the unit shuts off — the GPS antenna draws less power, but position accuracy degrades noticeably. You may see the position dot drifting or snapping between streets on low charge. Keeping the cell above 3.5V prevents the receiver from entering this reduced-power state.

RoadMate 5045 shuts off without a low-battery warning

The battery indicator on the RoadMate 5045 reads from a fuel gauge calibrated to the original cell's discharge curve. After a swap, that calibration is off — the indicator can show two bars while the cell is already near cutoff voltage. The BMS then trips at 3.0V and the unit cuts power with no visual warning. Run two full charge and discharge cycles after fitting the new cell to let the fuel gauge recalibrate to the new cell's curve.

Frequently Asked Questions

My RoadMate 5045 lost all my saved routes after I put the new battery in — is that normal?

Yes. The RoadMate 5045 stores saved routes and favourites in battery-backed RAM. A full power removal — which happens during a battery swap — clears that memory entirely. The device itself is fine. Re-enter your saved destinations after the swap; they won't restore automatically from the GPS unit itself.

Satellite lock is taking 8 minutes after I replaced the battery — it used to lock in seconds. What's wrong?

Nothing is wrong. The RoadMate 5045 performs a cold start after any complete power interruption, which means it has to re-download almanac and ephemeris data from scratch. That process takes 5–10 minutes outdoors with a clear sky view. Once the unit has cached that data through one full fix, subsequent locks drop back under a minute.

The battery meter on my RoadMate 5045 shows half charge but the unit just cut off — why?

The fuel gauge is calibrated to the discharge curve of the original cell. After fitting a replacement, the calibration is mismatched and the indicator reads higher than actual voltage. The BMS still cuts off correctly at 3.0V, but the visual warning arrives too late or not at all. Run two full charge-to-discharge cycles to let the gauge recalibrate to the new cell's curve.
