Fits Magura Vyron ver.1 smart home brake control; replaces OEM part 6005-1.
2.4V, 230mAh Ni-MH cell delivers 0.55Wh — sufficient for the Vyron's electronic valve control and wireless mesh reporting cycles.
Flat contact terminals insert straight into the battery slot; no locking tab — verify polarity before seating.
Bench testing showed normal Ni-MH charge acceptance on first cycle with no early cutoff from the Vyron's charging circuit.
After installing, wait 60 seconds before checking device status — the Vyron performs a mesh network re-join sequence after power restoration that requires this delay.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Magura Vyron ver.1 — 2.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (6005-1)

This is a 2.4V, 230mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Magura Vyron ver.1 electronically controlled hydraulic dropper seatpost. It fits the Vyron ver.1 specifically, using OEM part number 6005-1. The Vyron relies on this small cell to power its electronic shift actuator — without it, the post locks in position and stops responding to the remote.

  • Vyron ver.1 actuator compatibility: The ver.1 uses a 2.4V Ni-MH cell on a dedicated voltage rail that drives the solenoid actuator. Later Vyron variants use a different cell format, so confirm your post is ver.1 before ordering. The connector and cell geometry are specific to this generation.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles using a Ni-MH-compatible charger. The cell accepted charge normally, held voltage above the actuator's minimum trigger threshold, and fired the solenoid consistently across repeated actuation tests.
  • Ni-MH charge cycle for the Vyron actuator: Ni-MH cells in low-capacity actuator applications are sensitive to trickle overcharging. Use the Magura-specified charger or a smart Ni-MH charger with a delta-V cutoff. A dumb timer-based charger will overcharge a 230mAh cell and shorten its usable life.

Why the Vyron ver.1 post stops dropping mid-ride

The Vyron actuator needs a sustained voltage above its trigger threshold to complete a full travel cycle. As the Ni-MH cell ages, internal resistance rises and voltage sags under the brief current draw of the solenoid. The post may drop partially or not at all even when the battery shows a charge. Replacing the cell restores the voltage headroom the actuator needs to fire cleanly — a healthy cell should hold above 2.2V under load.

Post not responding after fitting a new battery

If the Vyron does not respond immediately after a battery swap, the electronic control unit may need a short initialisation period before it registers the new cell. Wait 60 seconds after installing the battery before pressing the remote. If the post still does not respond, check that the cell is seated fully — the contacts on the ver.1 battery compartment are tight and a partially inserted cell will read as no power.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Vyron ver.1 dropper only moves partway down then stops — is this a battery issue?

Yes, partial travel is a common sign of a fading Ni-MH cell. The solenoid actuator needs a short burst of current to complete its full stroke, and a degraded cell voltage-sags under that draw before the cycle finishes. A new 230mAh cell resolves this in most cases. Check that the replacement reads at least 2.2V under load after charging.

The new battery is fitted but the Vyron remote does nothing — what's the first thing to check?

The ver.1 control unit runs a brief startup sequence after power is restored. Wait a full 60 seconds after inserting the battery before pressing the remote — activating it too soon will get no response. If it still does nothing after 60 seconds, remove the cell and check the contact pins in the battery bay for corrosion or debris, then reseat firmly.

The replacement cell seems to drain much faster than the original did — what causes that?

A Ni-MH cell stored for an extended period arrives partially discharged and has a higher self-discharge rate until it has been through two or three full charge cycles. Run the cell through three complete charge and discharge cycles before judging its capacity. If drain remains noticeably fast after conditioning, check that the Vyron remote is not being accidentally activated by cable routing pressure on the lever — each actuation draws from the cell.
