Fits Marmitek DoorPhone 170, 210, and VDP210BP units; replaces OEM part numbers 8269 and 28253.
Delivers 3.7V at 850mAh capacity; powers the camera module, wireless transmitter, and IR night vision without cutoff during motion events.
Single-cell Li-Polymer pack with solder tabs for direct board connection; slides into the battery cavity and locks flush with the housing clip.
We cycled this cell on a DoorPhone 170 test unit; BMS accepted the pack on first insertion and held voltage stable through repeated IR LED load spikes.
On first power-up after installation, reboot the camera through the app — the firmware needs to re-register the battery voltage before motion recording logs correctly to cloud.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Marmitek DoorPhone 170 / 210 Series — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (8269)

This is a 3.7V, 850mAh Li-Polymer cell for the Marmitek DoorPhone 170, DoorPhone 210, and VDP210BP wireless video doorbell systems. It replaces OEM part numbers 8269 and 28253. The battery sits in the doorphone handset or base unit and powers the video, audio, and wireless communication circuits.

  • DoorPhone 170, 210, and VDP210BP compatibility: All three models share the same 3.7V Li-Polymer cell format, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol. Swapping between variants does not require any firmware change or hardware modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the DoorPhone platform. The BMS accepted the cell without fault flags, and the protection circuit responded correctly to both full charge cutoff and low-voltage discharge events.
  • Post-swap power cycle on first install: After fitting the new cell, power the doorphone off and back on fully before pairing or testing the chime. The system's motion and call-trigger logic re-initialises on a clean boot — skipping this step can cause missed ring events on the first few presses.

DoorPhone 170 going offline in the app after a battery swap

When a new cell is fitted and the unit powers back up, the doorphone establishes a fresh network session. If the app still holds the previous session token, it treats the device as unresponsive and shows it offline. This is not a battery fault. Open the Marmitek app, remove the device from the device list, and re-add it using the standard pairing flow. The unit should come online once the new session token is registered.

App displaying 0% or incorrect charge level after installation

The DoorPhone 170 uses a voltage-threshold indicator to estimate charge level — not a fuel gauge IC. Fitting a new cell at a mid-range state of charge can confuse the threshold map, showing 0% or a stale reading. Run the battery down until the low-battery alert triggers, then charge it fully without interruption. After one complete cycle the voltage thresholds reset and the app percentage tracks correctly. The full-charge cutoff sits at approximately 4.2V on this cell.

Frequently Asked Questions

The doorbell rings at the button but the app never gets the notification — what's going wrong?

This is a motion and call-trigger dropout caused by the combined current spike from the IR LED, processor, and WiFi transmitter firing at once. If the cell is weak, that spike pulls voltage below the BMS threshold and the unit briefly resets before it can push the notification. A fresh 850mAh cell at full charge holds the voltage rail through that spike. Fit the new battery, power cycle the unit, and test with a direct button press from about 1 metre to confirm the app alert fires before testing at range.

Recording stops partway through a visitor clip — the live view cuts out mid-stream.

Mid-clip dropouts on the DoorPhone 170 are usually caused by a WiFi reconnect attempt during recording. When signal is marginal, the WiFi chipset draws a short high current burst to re-associate, which can trip the BMS on a degraded cell. A new cell with full capacity tolerates that current spike without cutting out. Check that the doorphone is within reliable WiFi range — below two solid bars, even a fresh battery will see occasional trips on a weak signal.

Battery drains completely overnight even when the door hasn't been used — is this a faulty cell?

Overnight drain on a dormant DoorPhone 170 usually points to self-discharge on a worn-out cell, not a faulty replacement. Li-Polymer cells that have been deep-discharged repeatedly lose the ability to hold charge between events. If the new cell also drains overnight, check that the unit is not stuck in continuous WiFi polling mode — a missed network handshake can keep the radio active. A healthy cell at 3.7V nominal should hold above 3.5V after 24 hours of standby with no activity.
