Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Uniden Guardian G955 / UDR744HD Series — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (634169)

This 3.7V, 2000mAh (7.4Wh) Li-Polymer battery replaces OEM part 634169 in the Uniden Guardian G955, Guardian UDR, UDR744, and UDR744HD wireless security cameras. When the original cell degrades, motion recording becomes unreliable and the camera drops offline. This replacement restores normal operation without replacing the entire unit.

  • Guardian G955 and UDR series compatibility: These models share the same 3.7V battery rail, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — the 634169 cell seats and communicates identically across the G955, UDR, UDR744, and UDR744HD platforms.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through simulated motion-trigger events, monitoring BMS cutoff behaviour during the combined IR LED and processor current spikes that occur at each trigger. The cell held voltage without tripping cutoff under back-to-back trigger loads.
  • First-install power cycle: After fitting this battery, power cycle the camera once through the Uniden app. The firmware must register the new cell before motion events log correctly to cloud storage — skipping this step can cause missed recordings even when the camera appears online.

Why the Guardian G955 goes offline in the app after a battery swap

Replacing the battery clears the camera's active session token. The app loses the authenticated connection and marks the device offline even though the hardware is powered. This is a firmware state issue, not a fault with the battery or the camera. Open the Uniden app, remove the device from your device list, then re-add it using the original pairing steps to restore the live feed.

App reporting 0% or incorrect battery percentage after installing this cell

The Guardian series uses a voltage-threshold indicator — it reads cell voltage and maps it to a percentage, it does not use a fuel gauge IC. A new Li-Polymer cell at rest sits near full charge but the firmware's threshold map may not align until the cell completes one full charge-discharge cycle. Run the camera normally until the low-battery alert triggers, then charge to full. After that first full cycle, the percentage display will track accurately.

Frequently Asked Questions

My G955 stops recording mid-clip — it captures the first second of motion and then cuts off. What causes that?

The WiFi reconnect burst when the camera wakes from sleep draws a sharp current spike on top of the IR LED load. On a degraded cell, that combined spike crosses the BMS overcurrent threshold and trips a cutoff, ending the clip. A fresh 634169 cell handles the spike without tripping. If the problem continues on a new battery, move the camera closer to the router — a weak WiFi signal forces longer, higher-current reconnect attempts that stress the BMS further.

Night vision works when I first install the battery, but by the next morning the camera is asleep and won't wake on motion. What's happening?

Sustained IR LED draw overnight pulls the cell voltage down faster than solar or standby trickle input can recover it. Once the cell drops below the BMS re-entry threshold — typically around 3.0V for this cell chemistry — the BMS locks out to protect the cell and the camera stops responding to motion triggers entirely. Connect the camera to its charging cable for at least two hours to bring the cell voltage above the BMS re-entry point, then check that the solar panel connection (if fitted) is clean and unobstructed to maintain overnight voltage.

The Uniden app shows the G955 as online but motion events stopped triggering after I swapped the battery. No clips are being saved.

This is a firmware registration gap, not a hardware fault. The camera's motion-event logging pipeline didn't re-initialise after the battery swap, so triggers occur but nothing writes to storage or sends a notification. Power cycle the camera once through the app — go to device settings, restart the camera, and wait for it to reconnect fully. If motion logging still doesn't resume, remove and re-add the device in the app to force a full session refresh.
