Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Medion Life P4012 (MD98911) — 3.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This 3.8V, 1950mAh Li-ion cell replaces the original battery in the Medion Life P4012 (also sold as MD98911). It fits directly into the P4012 chassis without modification. Capacity figures are taken from verified product data — 1950mAh at 7.41Wh.
- P4012 / MD98911 compatibility: Both model numbers refer to the same handset hardware. The P4012 and MD98911 share an identical battery bay geometry, connector pitch, and BMS handshake voltage — a single cell covers both variants.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the P4012 platform. The BMS accepted charge current without fault flags, and the protection circuit tripped correctly at the low-voltage cutoff threshold — no runaway charge behaviour observed.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After fitting this cell, disable any fast-charge mode and run one complete discharge-charge cycle at standard current. This gives the fuel gauge IC time to map the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging is applied to an uncalibrated reference point.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the P4012 after a cell swap
The P4012's fuel gauge IC was calibrated against the original cell's discharge curve. A new cell with a slightly different internal resistance profile causes the IC to misread the remaining charge — it reports 25% but the actual terminal voltage has already dropped below the modem's minimum rail. When the screen and LTE radio draw current simultaneously, voltage sags past the cutoff point and the phone shuts down instantly. One full discharge-charge cycle at standard current resets the coulomb counter and corrects the percentage readout.
Phone feels warm near the battery during the first few charges
A new Li-ion cell typically has higher internal impedance than a conditioned cell that has completed several cycles. The charge IC on the P4012 pushes current into this higher-impedance cell, which converts more energy to heat during the first two or three sessions. This is normal and tapers off as the cell's impedance drops with cycling. If the phone still runs noticeably warm after five full charge cycles, check that the battery connector is fully seated — a partial connection increases resistance further and extends this warm-in period.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does my Medion Life P4012 shut off suddenly when the battery still shows 20–25%?
The fuel gauge IC on the P4012 is still reading from the old cell's discharge curve after a replacement. When the screen and modem pull current at the same time, the terminal voltage drops faster than the IC expects — the phone hits its cutoff voltage while the display still shows charge remaining. Run one full discharge down to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% at standard speed. After that single cycle the coulomb counter resets and the percentage readout tracks correctly.
The P4012 won't power on at all after the replacement battery sat unused for several months — what happened?
Li-ion cells self-discharge in storage. If the cell dropped below approximately 2.5V, the BMS entered a lockout state to prevent damage to the cell. The phone will not respond to a normal power-on press in this state. Connect a charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes before attempting to power on — the charge IC will trickle current into the cell until the BMS clears the lockout threshold and allows normal charging to resume.
Battery percentage is jumping around erratically on my P4012 — it went from 60% to 34% in two minutes without heavy use.
This is the fuel gauge IC recalibrating against a new cell it has no reference data for. The P4012 uses a coulomb-counting method tied to the original cell's capacity and impedance profile — a replacement cell with different characteristics causes the IC to output unstable readings until it builds a new baseline. Complete two full discharge-charge cycles at standard charge speed with no fast-charge mode active. By the end of the second cycle the IC will have enough data to track the new cell accurately and percentage jumps should stop.
