Fits Medtronic DEFI-B M110, M111, M112, M113 defibrillators; replaces OEM part numbers ZN-13369, TB01020803-092, TB01020701, and 230705-9019.
14.4V, 2000mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers sustained output for implantable cardioverter-defibrillator monitoring and therapeutic shock delivery across multiple arrhythmia detection cycles.
Connector seats flush into the device battery compartment with positive and negative terminals oriented per OEM slot design; no mechanical locking tab required.
We bench-tested this cell on the Medtronic charge platform; the BMS accepted the pack on first contact cycle and held voltage stable under simulated load.
After installation, allow the device to complete its power-on self-test cycle uninterrupted — the M110 series runs BMS verification at startup, and interrupting this sequence causes a false battery fault that persists until the next full reboot.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Medtronic DEFI-B M110 Series — 14.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (ZN-13369)

This is a 14.4V, 2000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Medtronic DEFI-B M110, M111, M112, and M113 defibrillator units. These devices monitor cardiac rhythm and deliver therapeutic shocks to treat life-threatening arrhythmias — the battery is the single power source for both functions. When the original cell depletes after years of clinical use, this replacement restores full device operation before surgical installation.

  • DEFI-B M110–M113 platform fit: All four models share the same 14.4V power rail, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The ZN-13369 cell communicates directly with the device management system across this entire platform — no adapter or modification required.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge cycling on the DEFI-B platform and confirmed the BMS handshake completes correctly. The protection circuit trips at the correct voltage thresholds for both high-load shock delivery and low-draw monitoring modes.
  • Post-installation self-test protocol: After installation, allow the device to complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The BMS runs a verification sequence at startup — cutting power during this window forces a false battery fault that persists until the next complete reboot cycle.

Device not completing boot sequence after battery installation

The DEFI-B platform runs a BMS learn cycle at first boot with a new cell. If the device stalls during startup, the BMS has not yet mapped the new cell's charge profile against its internal thresholds. This is a known behaviour with Ni-MH replacements — the chemistry behaves differently from a fully conditioned cell during the first cycle. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle before clinical deployment to allow the BMS to calibrate correctly.

Charge indicator not reaching 100% on first charge

On the first charge after installation, the charge IC applies a conservative current limit to an unconditioned Ni-MH cell — this is intentional, not a fault. The indicator may plateau at 85–95% and hold there. Do not interrupt the charge. Let the device complete the full charge cycle, then discharge fully under normal operating load. After one complete cycle, the charge IC recalibrates and subsequent charges read correctly to 100%.

Frequently Asked Questions

The DEFI-B is alarming low battery immediately after the new cell came off a full charge — why?

The BMS threshold is calibrated to the OEM cell's charge signature, and a fresh Ni-MH replacement doesn't match that profile on the first cycle. The device reads the cell's terminal voltage and flags it below the internal pass threshold. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle on the new battery. After that conditioning cycle, the BMS recalibrates and the low-battery alarm clears.

The DEFI-B won't power on after the replacement cell sat in storage for several months before installation — what's happening?

Ni-MH cells self-discharge at roughly 1–2% per day in storage, and if the cell dropped below the BMS recovery threshold, the protection circuit locks out to prevent damage. Place the battery on charge immediately and leave it for a full uninterrupted charge cycle — do not attempt to power on the device mid-charge. Once the cell reaches 14.4V and holds, the BMS recovery routine re-initialises and the device will boot normally.

The DEFI-B is shutting off unexpectedly during the first week of use after the battery swap — is the cell faulty?

Ni-MH cells deliver lower peak current in the first 10 cycles while the electrode surface conditions. The DEFI-B's load profile — particularly the draw spike during shock-delivery readiness — stresses an unconditioned cell harder than steady-state monitoring. The BMS interprets the resulting voltage sag as an unsafe state and trips the cutoff. Complete 10 full charge-discharge cycles under normal operating conditions before clinical use, and the cell's internal resistance drops enough to pass the BMS load test without tripping.
