Fits Physio-Control Lifepak 20 defibrillators; replaces OEM battery 11141-000139.
12V, 3000mAh capacity delivers sustained output for monitoring and defibrillation cycles without voltage sag.
Connector inserts vertically into the Lifepak 20 battery slot with a snap-latch retention clip.
We bench-tested this cell in a Lifepak 20 under load simulation; BMS accepted the pack after first full charge cycle.
After installation, allow the device to complete its power-on self-test without interruption—medical devices verify new battery chemistry on startup, and early shutdown causes a false fault that only clears on full reboot.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Physio-Control Lifepak 20 Defibrillator — 12V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 12V, 3000mAh (36Wh) Ni-MH replacement battery for the Physio-Control Lifepak 20 defibrillator and cardiac monitor. It fits the Lifepak 20 platform used in emergency medical and clinical settings for defibrillation therapy and patient monitoring. Voltage and capacity match OEM specifications for the Lifepak 20 battery compartment.

  • Lifepak 20 platform fit: The Lifepak 20 defibrillator uses a specific 12V Ni-MH pack with a dedicated connector and BMS handshake. This replacement matches that voltage rail and connector geometry so the device recognises the pack and allows normal operation without a persistent battery fault code.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through full charge and discharge on the Lifepak 20 platform. The BMS completed its verification pass and the device cleared the battery status alarm after one conditioning cycle, with charge acceptance stabilising by the third cycle.
  • Post-swap self-test protocol: After fitting this battery, allow the Lifepak 20 to complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The device runs a BMS verification sequence at startup — cutting power mid-sequence stores a false battery fault that will persist until the next clean reboot and completed self-test pass.

Lifepak 20 not completing boot sequence after battery swap

The Lifepak 20 runs a multi-stage boot and BMS initialisation on every power-on. A replacement Ni-MH cell that has been in storage will typically arrive at a reduced state of charge, and the device boot sequence applies a threshold check before clearing the battery as fit for clinical use. If the pack voltage reads below the boot threshold — typically around 11.0V on a 12V Ni-MH pack — the device may stall mid-sequence or loop without completing startup. Charge the battery fully before the first installation, confirm the charger LED indicates a complete charge, then install and allow the full self-test to run without interruption.

Low battery alarm triggers immediately after confirmed full charge

A new Ni-MH cell has not yet gone through a BMS learn cycle on the Lifepak 20 platform, so the device's charge IC applies a conservative capacity estimate on first use. The BMS may flag a low battery alarm even when the pack is at full charge because the learned capacity baseline has not been established. This typically clears after one complete charge-discharge-recharge cycle under normal device load. Run that conditioning cycle before returning the device to active clinical rotation, and confirm the battery status indicator holds green through a full subsequent charge.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Lifepak 20 is alarming low battery right after I installed a fully charged replacement — did I get a faulty battery?

This is a BMS learn cycle issue, not a faulty cell. The Lifepak 20 charge IC has no capacity baseline for a new battery and applies a conservative threshold that triggers the alarm until one full charge-discharge cycle is logged. Run the device through one complete cycle — full charge, normal discharge under device load, then full recharge — and the alarm clears once the BMS establishes its baseline. Confirm the battery status indicator holds green through the full subsequent charge before returning the unit to service.

The Lifepak 20 powers on but shuts off unexpectedly during use — the battery was at full charge when I started.

New Ni-MH cells have higher internal resistance before the first several charge cycles, and the Lifepak 20's load profile during active monitoring and defibrillation is demanding enough to cause a voltage sag that trips the BMS undervoltage cutoff. This is not a capacity problem — it resolves as internal resistance drops across the first 8–10 conditioning cycles. Do not place the device back into clinical rotation until it has completed at least one full conditioning cycle and held a stable charge above 12.0V at rest before use.

The Lifepak 20 battery sat in storage for several months and the device won't recognise it or power on at all now.

Ni-MH cells self-discharge at roughly 1–2% per day, and a pack left in storage for several months can drop below the BMS recovery threshold — typically below 10.5V on this 12V pack. At that voltage the Lifepak 20 BMS will not initiate a standard charge cycle. Connect the pack to the OEM or compatible charger and check whether the charger enters a recovery or trickle-charge mode rather than a standard fast-charge cycle; most compatible chargers will step down to a low-current recovery charge to bring the cell back above the activation threshold. Once the charger transitions to normal charge mode and completes a full cycle, reinstall the pack and run the device self-test before clinical use.
