Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Megapix Vx8 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (02491-0028-01)

This 3.7V Li-ion cell replaces the original battery in the Megapix Vx8 digital camera. It carries a 1250mAh (4.63Wh) capacity and slots directly into the Vx8 battery compartment using the original OEM part number 02491-0028-01. Use it to restore full camera operation when the factory cell no longer holds a usable charge.

  • Vx8 battery compartment fit: The Vx8 draws power from a single-cell 3.7V Li-ion pack at fixed dimensions — 41.95 × 36.05 × 9.80mm. Any cell outside these tolerances won't seat correctly or close the compartment door. This replacement matches those dimensions and the OEM connector orientation exactly.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the Vx8 platform. The camera's BMS accepted the cell, reported charge status on the indicator, and drew current without triggering an undervoltage cutoff at rest state or under shutter load.
  • First-use charge protocol for the Vx8: Insert the new cell and charge it fully inside the camera body using the OEM charger before your first shoot. Some Vx8 BMS implementations calibrate the battery-remaining display during this first in-body charge cycle — skipping it can cause the indicator to read inaccurately from the start.

Dead battery indicator on a replacement cell that still has charge

A new Li-ion cell ships at partial charge — typically 40–60% of nominal voltage. The Vx8's battery indicator maps remaining capacity against a stored discharge curve from the previous cell. If the BMS hasn't yet calibrated to the new cell, it can read the resting voltage as critically low and show a dead-battery icon even when the cell is not depleted. Running one full in-body charge cycle from near-empty to 4.2V resets that calibration. After that cycle, the indicator tracks the new cell's discharge curve correctly.

Battery percentage jumping erratically on the Vx8 display

This happens when the camera's voltage-threshold table doesn't yet match the discharge curve of the replacement cell. The Vx8 estimates remaining charge by measuring cell voltage at intervals — if the new cell's voltage drops at a slightly different rate than the OEM cell, the percentage readout skips or jumps between values. It's not a fault with the cell. Discharge the battery fully during a normal shoot, then charge it to 4.2V in one uninterrupted session inside the camera body. That single calibration cycle typically stabilises the display.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Megapix Vx8 shows "no battery" even though the replacement cell is seated and latched — what's happening?

The Vx8 performs a BMS authentication check when a new cell is first installed, and a partially charged replacement can fail that check on cold contact. Remove the battery, reinsert it firmly until the latch clicks, then connect the OEM charger and let it run a full charge cycle inside the camera body. That charge cycle is usually enough for the camera to accept and register the new cell — after completion, power the camera on and the battery indicator should appear.

My shot count with the new Vx8 battery is noticeably lower than I expected — is the cell faulty?

Shot count estimates are based on CIPA-standard test conditions, which don't account for flash use, continuous autofocus, video recording, or image stabilisation running simultaneously. On the Vx8, each of those functions draws additional current beyond a basic shutter-press load. The cell capacity is correct at 1250mAh — the higher draw per shot from your shooting style reduces total shot count regardless of which cell you use. Disable flash or continuous AF when those aren't needed to extend the charge per session.

The Vx8 flash is taking longer to recycle between shots as the battery drains — is this normal?

Yes. The flash capacitor recharges by pulling a high burst of current from the cell. As the cell voltage drops toward the lower end of its discharge curve, it delivers that recharge current more slowly, and recycle time increases noticeably. This isn't a fault — it's a normal characteristic of any Li-ion cell under capacitor recharge load at lower state of charge. If recycle delay is affecting your shoot, charge the battery when the camera indicator drops to one bar, before the cell reaches its lower voltage threshold near 3.0V.
