Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Meilan M5 / 5 — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery
This 3.85V, 3000mAh Li-Polymer battery replaces the original cell in the Meilan M5 and Meilan 5 smartphones. It fits the M5's internal battery bay at 78.44 × 62.74 × 3.38mm and reconnects to the stock charge IC and fuel gauge IC without modification. Capacity is 3000mAh (11.55Wh), matching the original cell specification.
- M5 and Meilan 5 platform fit: Both the M5 and Meilan 5 use the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — one cell covers both variants without adapter or wiring change.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran charge and discharge cycles through a Meilan M5 unit on the bench. The BMS accepted charge without fault, the fuel gauge IC tracked state-of-charge through a full cycle, and the protection circuit tripped correctly at the low-voltage cutoff threshold.
- First-cycle fast charge hold-off: On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC recalibrate its coulomb counter against the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging is applied to an uncalibrated cell.
Why the M5 reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap
The Meilan M5 uses a fuel gauge IC that builds its state-of-charge model from the old cell's impedance and discharge curve. When a new cell goes in, that learned model no longer matches the actual chemistry. The gauge reads voltage correctly but maps it to the wrong capacity percentage. One full discharge down to automatic shutdown followed by a full charge to 100% forces the coulomb counter to reset and relearn the new cell's curve. After that cycle, percentage reporting stabilises.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell
This happens when the modem radio or display pulls a high current burst and the cell voltage drops sharply below the BMS cutoff threshold — even though the gauge still shows charge remaining. It is a voltage sag issue, not a capacity defect. The BMS sees the instantaneous voltage cliff and cuts power to protect the cell. After the first two or three full discharge-charge cycles, internal resistance settles and the sag narrows. If shutdowns persist past three cycles, check that the battery connector is fully seated — a loose pin raises contact resistance and worsens voltage drop under load.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Meilan M5 won't turn on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months — is the cell dead?
The BMS locks out below approximately 2.5V per cell to prevent damage, and a cell that has self-discharged in storage can drop below that threshold. Connect the phone to a wall charger — not a PC USB port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing anything. The charge IC will trickle current into the cell until voltage climbs above the BMS recovery threshold, at which point the phone will boot normally. If the screen shows no charging indicator after 30 minutes on a wall charger, reseat the battery connector and repeat.
Fast charging stopped working after I fitted the replacement — the phone only charges slowly now.
The Meilan M5's charge IC negotiates the fast-charge protocol during the first handshake after a new cell is detected. On some units the IC defaults to standard 5V/1A charging on the first cycle as a precaution against an unknown cell. Complete one full slow charge to 100%, then discharge to automatic shutdown, then reconnect to the fast charger. That sequence gives the charge IC a verified capacity reference and it re-enables the higher current profile. If fast charging still does not resume after that cycle, check the USB cable — a cable without the correct data lines blocks protocol negotiation entirely.
The battery percentage on my M5 keeps jumping around erratically — it went from 45% to 12% in two minutes.
This is the fuel gauge IC recalibrating against a new cell it has not yet mapped. The original calibration data was built from hundreds of cycles on the old cell; the new cell has a different impedance profile, so voltage-to-percentage conversion is temporarily unreliable. Run two complete cycles — discharge to automatic shutdown, charge uninterrupted to 100% — without unplugging early or letting the phone sit at partial charge for extended periods. After the second full cycle the coulomb counter resets its baseline and percentage readings become stable.
