Fits MeiZu M3 and replaces OEM battery part number BT68.
3.85V, 2800mAh Li-Polymer cell restores full capacity to the M3 after original pack degradation or damage.
Connector seats flat against the internal contact pad; locking tab slides down to secure the cell in the upper battery bay.
We charged this cell through five full cycles on a standard M3 dock — BMS accepted voltage curve without fault codes or early cutoff.
On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle so the fuel gauge IC recalibrates against the new cell discharge curve.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

MeiZu M3 / M688 Series — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BT68)

This is a 3.85V, 2800mAh Li-Polymer replacement cell for the MeiZu M3 smartphone and its M688U, M688Q, and M688M variants. It slots in when the original BT68 has lost capacity or swollen beyond safe use. Capacity figure matches the OEM spec at 10.78Wh.

  • M3 and M688 variant compatibility: The M688U, M688Q, and M688M share the same physical footprint, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol as the base M3. One cell covers all of them because the voltage rail and charge IC communication lines are identical across that production run.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through the MeiZu charge IC handshake and confirmed BMS recognition on first connection. The protection circuit responded correctly to both low-voltage cutoff and charge-termination signals without requiring a manual reset.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging pushes current into an uncalibrated coulomb counter — which is what causes erratic percentage readings in the first day of use.

Why the MeiZu M3 reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap

The M3 uses a coulomb counter IC that builds its reference model from the previous cell's charge and discharge history. When you swap in a new cell, that stored model no longer matches the actual cell chemistry. The mismatch shows up as jumpy percentage readings or a figure that stays frozen for long stretches. One full discharge down to automatic shutdown, followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100%, forces the IC to rebuild its reference against the new cell curve.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell

This is a voltage cliff, not a capacity problem. Under peak load — mobile data handoff, screen at full brightness, or a background sync — the cell voltage sags below the BMS cutoff threshold even though the fuel gauge still shows charge remaining. It happens most often in the first few cycles when the gauge IC hasn't finished calibrating. Run two full discharge-charge cycles without fast charging and monitor whether the shutdown point moves lower. If it persists past three cycles, check that the cell connector is fully seated — a high-resistance connection amplifies voltage sag under load.

Frequently Asked Questions

My MeiZu M3 won't turn on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months — is the cell dead?

The BMS locks out when cell voltage drops below approximately 2.5V during storage, which is a safety cutoff to prevent damage from deep discharge. The phone won't power on because the BMS is blocking current flow, not because the cell has failed. Connect to a wall charger — not a PC USB port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. Once the cell climbs back above 3.0V, the BMS releases and the phone should boot normally.

Fast charging stopped working the first time I plugged in after fitting the BT68 — the phone is only trickle charging now.

MeiZu's proprietary fast charge protocol requires the charge IC to authenticate the cell's BMS on the first cycle. If the BMS handshake doesn't complete cleanly — often because the connector wasn't fully seated or the first connection was made through a third-party cable — the charge IC falls back to standard 5V trickle mode as a safety default. Power the phone off completely, reseat the battery connector, and use the original MeiZu charger and cable for the first full charge cycle. Fast charge should re-enable once the IC completes a successful handshake.

The phone feels warm near the battery area for the first hour of charging after the swap — is something wrong?

A new high-impedance Li-Polymer cell generates more heat during the initial charge cycles than a broken-in cell does. The charge IC is pushing current into a cell with slightly higher internal resistance than the worn original, which converts more energy to heat until the cell conditions over a few cycles. Warmth that stays below uncomfortable-to-touch is within normal range. If the back becomes too hot to hold or charging stops and resumes repeatedly, remove the phone from the charger, let it cool to room temperature, and check that the connector pins are clean and making full contact before charging again.
