Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Fly IQ4514 Quad EVO Tech 4 — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BL3819)
This is a 3.8V, 1800mAh Li-Polymer replacement battery for the Fly IQ4514 and IQ4514 Quad EVO Tech 4 smartphones. It replaces OEM part number BL3819. Use this when the original cell no longer holds charge or the phone shuts down unexpectedly under load.
- IQ4514 and IQ4514 Quad EVO Tech 4 compatibility: Both variants use the same BL3819 cell format — identical voltage rail, connector pinout, and BMS handshake. One replacement covers both models without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the IQ4514 platform. The BMS accepted the charge IC handshake on the first cycle and held voltage within spec under simultaneous screen-on and modem load.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-to-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC map its coulomb counter against the new cell's actual discharge curve before high-current charging begins on an uncalibrated cell.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the IQ4514 after a cell swap
This happens because the fuel gauge IC is still referencing the discharge curve of the old, degraded cell. The new cell has a steeper voltage drop near the lower end of its curve than the worn cell did. When the modem fires during a call or data transfer, voltage sags below the shutdown threshold before the gauge reads zero. The fix is one full discharge cycle with the screen on — let it run until the phone powers off on its own, then charge to 100% uninterrupted. After that cycle, the coulomb counter recalibrates to the new cell and percentage readings stabilise.
Phone will not power on after the BL3819 sat in storage
Li-Polymer cells self-discharge over time. If the cell dropped below roughly 2.5V per cell during storage, the BMS enters lockout mode and blocks all charge current to prevent thermal runaway on a deeply discharged cell. Connect the phone to a wall charger — not a USB port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. The charge IC trickle-charges the cell at a low current rate to bring it back above the BMS recovery threshold, typically around 3.0V, at which point normal charging resumes and the phone boots.

Frequently Asked Questions
The IQ4514 shows 25% battery left and then just cuts off — is the BL3819 faulty?
It is not a faulty cell — it is the fuel gauge IC running on the old cell's discharge curve. The new BL3819 has a sharper voltage drop at the low end than your worn original, so the modem or screen pulls voltage below the shutdown threshold before the gauge reaches 0%. Run one full discharge cycle: use the phone normally until it powers off by itself, then charge to 100% without interruption. After that single cycle the coulomb counter recalibrates and the cutoff disappears.
Fast charging stopped working the first time I charged the replacement BL3819 — did I buy the wrong battery?
The proprietary charge protocol on the IQ4514 requires the BMS to complete one full handshake cycle before it unlocks higher current tiers. On the very first charge after a cell swap, the charge IC defaults to standard 5V input until it reads a full cycle of BMS acknowledgment data. Plug into the original Fly wall adapter, let the phone charge fully to 100%, then unplug and discharge normally. Fast charging typically re-enables on the second charge cycle once the BMS handshake is fully established.
The phone gets noticeably warm near the battery during the first few charges after fitting the BL3819 — is that normal?
A new Li-Polymer cell has higher internal impedance than a broken-in cell, so the charge IC pushes current into more resistance on the first few cycles — this generates more heat than you will see once the cell is conditioned. As long as the phone is not hot to the touch and charging completes normally, the warmth is within expected range. If the phone feels genuinely hot or charging stops before 100%, check that the rear cover is fully seated so the cell is not being compressed unevenly against the chassis.
