Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Micromax A116 Canvas HD — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This is a 3.7V, 1700mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Micromax A116 Canvas HD smartphone. It slots into the rear battery bay of the A116 and connects to the same three-contact board connector as the factory cell. Dimensions are 69.88 × 59.87 × 4.60mm — confirm these against your existing cell before ordering.
- A116 Canvas HD fit: The Canvas HD uses a removable rear-cover design with a dedicated battery bay sized to this cell's footprint. The BMS communicates state-of-charge data to the OS through the three-contact connector — voltage, temperature, and ID line all pass through the same point.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran charge-discharge cycles on the A116 board and confirmed the BMS accepted the cell, completed a full CC-CV charge cycle, and passed temperature readings to the OS without fault flags.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, complete one full discharge-to-charge cycle without interruption. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before the OS starts reading percentage from it — skipping this step causes erratic percentage display for several days.
Why the A116 Canvas HD reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap
The A116 uses a fuel gauge IC that stores the previous cell's discharge curve in memory. When a new cell goes in, the IC still references the old curve until it runs a full calibration cycle. This mismatch causes the percentage reading to lag, jump, or plateau — the cell voltage is accurate, but the displayed figure is not. One full uninterrupted discharge followed by a complete charge to 4.2V resets the learned curve and restores accurate percentage display.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell
This happens when the fuel gauge IC hasn't calibrated yet and the cell hits a voltage cliff under load — typically during mobile data, screen-on, or a call. The OS sees 25% but the cell voltage drops below the BMS cutoff threshold under that current draw. The BMS trips and the phone shuts off to protect the cell. Run two full discharge-charge cycles and the fuel gauge will track voltage sag more accurately, pushing the shutdown trigger down to the correct low-voltage floor near 3.2V.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Micromax A116 won't turn on after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months — is the cell dead?
Probably not dead, but the BMS may have locked out the cell after voltage dropped below 2.5V during storage. Plug the phone into a charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes before attempting to power on — the charge IC needs to trickle current into the cell to bring voltage back above the BMS recovery threshold. If the charge LED doesn't light at all after 30 minutes, try a different cable and adapter to rule out input-side issues. Once the cell reads above 3.0V, the BMS will unlock and the phone should boot normally.
The phone feels warm near the battery compartment while charging the new cell — is something wrong?
A new high-impedance cell generates more heat during the first few charge cycles than a broken-in cell does. The charge IC on the A116 board pushes constant current into the cell until it reaches 4.2V, and a fresh cell's internal resistance means more energy converts to heat during that phase. This is normal and typically reduces after three to five full cycles as internal resistance drops. If the back cover becomes uncomfortable to hold or the phone throttles CPU performance during charging, check that the rear cover is seated flat — any gap reduces heat dissipation from the battery bay.
Fast charging stopped working after I fitted the replacement battery — the phone only charges slowly now.
The A116 uses a proprietary charge handshake between the BMS and the charge IC on the board. On the first cycle with a new cell, the charge IC defaults to a conservative current limit until it verifies the cell's temperature and impedance response. This isn't a fault — it's the IC running a cautious first-cycle profile. Complete one full charge from near-empty to 100% without unplugging, and the IC will step up to its normal charge current on subsequent cycles. If slow charging persists past the third cycle, check that the three-contact connector is fully seated with no bent pins.
