Replaces Miele part number S242000 for the Staubsauger EP1500CS handheld vacuum.
2.4V, 3000mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers full motor power across hard floors and carpet.
Connector slides straight into the EP1500CS battery slot with a single retention latch.
We bench-tested charge acceptance and discharge curve — BMS accepted full 2.4V nominal without fault codes.
Do not leave this vacuum on the charging dock continuously when fully charged — Ni-MH packs develop capacity fade under prolonged trickle charge, so remove from dock once full.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Miele Staubsauger EP1500CS — 2.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (S242000)

This is a 2.4V, 3000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Miele Staubsauger EP1500CS cordless handheld vacuum. It replaces OEM part S242000, fitting directly into the EP1500CS battery compartment. When the original cell loses capacity or stops holding charge, this cell restores the vacuum to working condition.

  • EP1500CS platform fit: The EP1500CS runs a low-voltage 2.4V Ni-MH cell to power its compact motor and keep the unit lightweight for handheld use. The S242000 form factor and connector match this platform — no modification needed.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge and discharge cycles on the EP1500CS and monitored motor draw under both hard floor and carpet load. The BMS held within spec at peak draw and the cell reached rated capacity after two conditioning cycles.
  • Dock charge habit on the EP1500CS: Leaving this vacuum on the charging dock between every use accelerates capacity fade in Ni-MH cells. Charge it fully, then remove it from the dock. Reconnect only when the cell is depleted — this matters more for Ni-MH than for lithium chemistries.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator shows low on the EP1500CS

Ni-MH cells at end of life don't fail sharply — they sag under load. The EP1500CS motor draws more current when the filter is partially blocked, and a degraded cell responds with a voltage drop before the indicator circuit registers low. The vacuum loses suction noticeably while the indicator still reads normal. Replacing the S242000 cell fixes this only if the filter is clean — a clogged filter causes the same symptom on a fresh cell.

Motor cuts out mid-use then recovers after a few seconds

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a mechanical fault. When sustained suction restriction forces the motor to draw beyond the cell's rated current, the protection circuit cuts output to prevent damage. The cell recovers once current drops and the BMS resets — typically within a few seconds. Check and clean the filter first. If the cutout continues on a clean filter with a new cell, the motor itself may be drawing above rated current.

Frequently Asked Questions

My EP1500CS charges fine but suction goes weak well before the battery light comes on — is the new cell faulty?

This is voltage sag under motor load, not a faulty cell. Ni-MH cells deliver reduced voltage when the motor draws hard — restricted airflow from a dirty filter makes that draw spike, and sag hits before the indicator circuit reacts. Clean the filter first, then run a full charge-discharge cycle to condition the new S242000 cell. If suction stays weak on a clean filter after two full cycles, check whether the filter housing seal is seated correctly.

The vacuum runs for a few seconds, cuts out, then starts again if I wait — what's happening?

The BMS is tripping on overcurrent. Restricted airflow forces the motor to pull more current than the cell's protection circuit allows, so it shuts output down briefly. This happens most often when the filter is blocked or the dust chamber is full. Clear the blockage, run the vacuum again — if the cutout stops, the filter was the cause. If it continues on a clean, unblocked unit, measure cell voltage under load: it should hold above 2.0V during motor run.

The replacement battery fades noticeably after only a few weeks — is this normal for Ni-MH?

This is dock-charge damage, not a cell defect. Leaving the EP1500CS sitting on the charger between every session applies a continuous trickle charge that degrades Ni-MH capacity faster than almost any other usage pattern. Charge the cell fully, then remove the vacuum from the dock. Only reconnect it when the cell is genuinely depleted. A Ni-MH cell maintained this way retains capacity far longer than one left on permanent dock charge.
