Fits Minon DMP-3 portable media player, replaces OEM part W10-VA0099.
3.7V, 850mAh lithium-ion cell powers audio and video playback on early 2000s compact players.
Connector attaches vertically into the battery slot with single retention tab on underside.
We bench tested full charge cycles with the player in standby and during active playback; BMS accepted charge without cutoff.
After installation, connect the charger and wait 30 minutes before powering on—media players enter deep discharge protection after storage and need initial trickle current to accept normal charge flow.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Minon DMP-3 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (W10-VA0099)

This is a 3.7V, 850mAh Li-ion battery for the Minon DMP-3 portable media player. It replaces part number W10-VA0099 and fits the compact cell bay on the DMP-3 directly. The original cell in these players degrades with shallow-cycle use over time, leaving the device unable to hold a charge.

  • DMP-3 fit: The DMP-3 runs a single-cell 3.7V Li-ion configuration with a fixed connector and BMS handshake tied to cell voltage. This replacement matches the cell dimensions (52.96 × 33.03 × 7.17mm), voltage curve, and protection circuit the player expects.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran the cell through charge and discharge cycles on the DMP-3 platform. The BMS accepted the cell without fault flags, and the protection circuit responded correctly at low-voltage cutoff — no false trips during normal audio playback draw.
  • Post-swap charging on the DMP-3: After fitting a new cell, connect the DMP-3 to its charger before powering on. If the original battery discharged completely during storage, the player may sit in deep discharge protection and appear dead. Leave it on charge for at least 30 minutes before attempting to boot.

Battery percentage jumping after cell swap on the DMP-3

The DMP-3 tracks battery level using voltage thresholds mapped to the original cell's discharge curve. When a new cell is installed, the player's internal gauge has no reference point for the new cell's resting voltage. This causes the percentage display to jump — sometimes showing full, then dropping sharply after a few minutes of playback. Run two full charge-to-cutoff cycles and the gauge will recalibrate to the new cell's actual curve.

Playback cutting out before the battery indicator shows empty

The audio amplifier in the DMP-3 draws a brief current spike when driving the headphone output at moderate to high volume. Near the bottom of the cell's discharge curve, voltage sags under that load and drops below the amplifier's minimum operating point — even when the battery indicator still shows a bar or two remaining. This is a voltage sag issue, not a capacity issue. If playback drops out abruptly at low charge, reduce playback volume slightly to lower the current draw, or charge the device before the indicator falls below one bar.

Frequently Asked Questions

My DMP-3 won't turn on at all after sitting in a drawer for a year — is the new battery dead too?

It's almost certainly deep discharge protection, not a dead cell. When a Li-ion cell drains completely during long storage, the player's protection circuit locks out normal boot until the cell voltage recovers above roughly 3.0V. Connect the charger and leave the device plugged in for 30 minutes without pressing the power button — the trickle charge stage needs to run first before the player will accept a normal charge current and power on.

The battery percentage on my DMP-3 drops from 80% to 20% in a few seconds after I replace the cell — what's wrong?

Nothing is wrong with the cell. The DMP-3's fuel gauge uses stored voltage-threshold data calibrated to the old cell's worn discharge curve. A fresh cell sits at a different resting voltage, so the gauge misreads it until it has reference points from actual use. Run two complete charge cycles — charge to full, play until the device shuts off, then charge again — and the percentage display will stabilise.

My DMP-3 playback cuts out mid-track but the battery still shows charge remaining — is this a faulty cell?

This is a voltage sag issue at the end of the discharge curve. The headphone amplifier in the DMP-3 needs a minimum voltage to keep running, and when the cell is low, a brief current spike during audio output pulls the voltage below that threshold — even if the indicator shows one bar left. The fix is straightforward: charge the device before the battery indicator drops to a single bar, or lower playback volume to reduce the peak current draw below the sag threshold.
