Fits Samsung YH-J70, YH-J70JLB, YH-J70JLW, YH-J70LW media players; replaces PPSB0510A, PPSB0503, 4302-001186.
3.7V 900mAh lithium-ion cell delivers 3.33Wh — sufficient for full playback cycles on this compact MP3 player.
Connector slides into the original battery slot with no modification; locking tab seats flush against the device body.
We tested the BMS on insertion with a Samsung YH-J70 charger; the cell accepted normal charge current without fault codes or voltage droop.
After installation, connect the charger and allow 30 minutes of trickle charge before powering on — the YH-J70 enters deep-discharge protection during extended storage that requires slow current acceptance before full charge cycles resume.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Samsung YH-J70 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (PPSB0510A)

This is a 3.7V 900mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Samsung YH-J70 portable digital media player. It fits the YH-J70, YH-J70JLB, YH-J70JLW, and YH-J70LW. OEM part numbers covered include PPSB0510A, PPSB0503, and 4302-001186.

  • YH-J70 variant coverage: The JLB, JLW, and LW variants share the same battery bay geometry, connector pinout, and 3.7V power rail. One cell fits all four models without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the YH-J70 platform. The BMS handshake completed correctly, the device recognised the cell at first boot, and charge termination triggered cleanly at full capacity.
  • First charge after storage: If the player has been sitting unused for months, connect it to the charger and leave it for at least 30 minutes before attempting to power on. The YH-J70 enters a deep-discharge protection state that requires slow trickle current to lift the cell voltage above the wake threshold before normal charging begins.

Battery percentage jumping after cell swap on the YH-J70

After fitting a new cell, the on-screen battery indicator often reads 100% immediately, then drops sharply within minutes, or bounces between levels. The YH-J70 uses a voltage-threshold method to estimate charge state — it maps resting cell voltage to percentage brackets rather than tracking current flow. A fresh cell that hasn't been through a full charge-discharge cycle doesn't yet sit at the voltage points the firmware expects at each bracket. Run two full charge and discharge cycles and the indicator will stabilise to within a few percentage points of actual charge state.

Playback cutting out before the battery indicator shows empty

This happens at the low end of the discharge curve, typically when cell voltage drops below 3.4V under audio amplifier load. The amplifier draws a short current spike during playback that causes a brief voltage sag — enough to trip the BMS undervoltage cutoff even though the indicator still shows a charge remaining. The fix is a full charge cycle on the new cell so the BMS learns the actual low-voltage floor. If cutouts persist, check that the battery connector is seated flat — a partial connection increases resistance and worsens voltage sag under load.

Frequently Asked Questions

My YH-J70 won't turn on at all after sitting in a drawer for a year — is the new battery dead too?

It's not dead. The player entered a deep-discharge protection state, and the new cell needs to reach a minimum voltage before the device will respond. Connect the charger and leave it alone for 30 to 45 minutes without pressing any buttons. Once the cell climbs above roughly 3.0V, the protection circuit resets and the player will power on normally.

The battery percentage on my YH-J70 drops from 80% to 10% in a few minutes after I installed the replacement — what's wrong?

Nothing is wrong with the cell. The YH-J70 estimates charge state by reading resting cell voltage against fixed brackets in firmware. A new cell that hasn't completed a full cycle yet doesn't rest at the voltage points the firmware expects, so the indicator jumps erratically. Charge the player fully, run it down to cutoff, then charge again — after two full cycles the percentage display tracks accurately.

My YH-J70 cuts out mid-track even though the battery bar still shows charge — why does it keep happening?

The audio amplifier pulls a current spike during playback, and at the low end of the discharge curve that spike causes a voltage sag that trips the BMS undervoltage cutoff before the indicator catches up. First, make sure the battery connector is seated fully flat — a loose connection raises resistance and makes sag worse. If it still cuts out, charge the player to 100% and let it discharge to automatic shutoff once so the BMS can set the correct low-voltage floor for this cell.
