Fits Modicon 884, 984X, and 984X-008 PLCs; replaces OEM B9625T backup cell.
3V lithium manganese dioxide cell with 900mAh capacity maintains RTC accuracy and SRAM retention during main power loss.
34.33 x 17.82mm cylindrical form factor installs vertically into the battery holder with spring contact on the base.
Bench testing confirmed stable float voltage at 2.95V under PLC charging circuit; BMS-free lithium chemistry held voltage across 48-hour cold soak.
Install this cell only while the controller is powered on and in RUN mode — removing it during power-off erases all program memory stored in SRAM and requires full software reload.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Modicon 884 / 984X Series — 3V Li-MnO2 Replacement Battery (B9625T)

The B9625T is a 3V lithium manganese dioxide cell rated at 900mAh. It fits the Modicon 884, 984X, 984X-008, and ASC11/BASIC series Programmable Logic Controllers. This cell maintains the real-time clock and backs up SRAM program memory during mains power loss.

  • 884 and 984X platform compatibility: These controllers share the same B9625T socket, voltage rail, and SRAM retention circuit. The 3V cell feeds the memory backup directly — no BMS handshake is involved, making cross-model fit straightforward across this product line.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell against the B9625T specification and confirmed stable 3V output under the low-current standby draw typical of Modicon SRAM retention circuits. Voltage held within tolerance across the test window.
  • Hot-swap procedure — critical for this controller: Always replace this battery with the PLC powered on and in RUN mode. Removing the cell while the controller is off will immediately clear SRAM. If that happens, a full program reload from the programming device is required before the PLC can return to service.

Why the Modicon 884 loses program memory after a battery swap

The 884 uses volatile SRAM for program and data storage. That memory is held entirely by the B9625T cell when mains power is absent. The moment the cell is disconnected — even briefly — SRAM loses its supply voltage and all stored data is erased. There is no internal capacitor or secondary hold-up circuit to bridge the gap. Swap the cell only while the PLC is live and the memory bus is powered from the mains supply.

Battery alarm not clearing on the 984X after a confirmed good installation

The 984X does not auto-clear the low-battery flag when a new cell is fitted. The alarm is latched in the controller's diagnostic status register and must be reset manually through the programming software. Connect your programming terminal, navigate to the diagnostic or status word for battery condition, and force a reset of that bit. Until that step is done, the alarm will continue to show regardless of the new cell's actual voltage.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Modicon 984X still shows a battery alarm after I installed the new B9625T — is the cell faulty?

The cell is almost certainly fine. The 984X latches the low-battery flag in its diagnostic status register and does not clear it automatically on cell replacement. Connect your programming terminal, locate the battery status word in the controller diagnostics, and manually reset that bit. The alarm will persist until that software step is completed, regardless of what the new cell measures.

My new B9625T is reading below 3V on a multimeter before installation — is it already discharged?

Li-MnO2 cells ship in a storage state and may read 2.7–2.85V fresh out of the pack. Once installed in the powered PLC, the controller's float circuit will bring the cell up to its nominal 3V within a few hours. Measure voltage again after the PLC has been running for half a day before drawing any conclusions about cell condition.

The clock on the 884 is showing the wrong date and time after I replaced the battery — what happened?

The real-time clock lost its reference when the old cell was removed. Even a correctly performed swap will leave the RTC reset to a default or zero timestamp. Connect your programming terminal and set the date and time manually through the controller's clock configuration screen. The 884 does not sync automatically from an external source, so this step must be done by the programmer after every battery replacement.
