Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Motorola Moto G Pure (XT2163-4 / XT2163DL) — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (NT40)
This is a 3.85V, 3650mAh Li-Polymer replacement battery for the Motorola Moto G Pure (2021). It fits the XT2163-4 and XT2163DL variants and uses the OEM part number NT40. It restores power to a phone that no longer holds charge or fails to turn on due to a degraded cell.
- XT2163-4 and XT2163DL fit confirmation: Both variants share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The NT40 cell fits both without modification — no adapter, no rewiring.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell on the Moto G Pure platform and confirmed the BMS accepted the charge curve without triggering overvoltage cutoff. The fuel gauge IC initialised correctly after one full discharge-charge cycle.
- Fuel gauge recalibration after install: On first use after fitting this cell, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge down to automatic shutdown, then charge to 100% on standard charge. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before fast charge pushes high current into an uncalibrated state.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Moto G Pure after a cell swap
This happens because the fuel gauge IC is still running the discharge curve from the old, degraded cell. When the new cell hits a voltage point the IC doesn't recognise as low, it can misreport remaining capacity by 20–30%. Under modem or display load, the cell voltage drops sharply at that point and the phone shuts down as a protection response. One full discharge-charge cycle on standard charging — no fast charge — resets the coulomb counter and aligns the IC to the new cell's actual voltage floor.
USB fast charge not activating on the first cycle after fitting the NT40
The Moto G Pure's charge IC runs a handshake with the battery BMS before allowing fast charge current. On the first cycle after fitting a new cell, the BMS may not complete that handshake until it has seen at least one full charge cycle at standard rate. If fast charging is not triggering, plug into a standard 5V charger and allow a full charge to 100%. After that cycle completes, the BMS handshake resolves and fast charge should activate on the next session.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Moto G Pure won't turn on at all after sitting in a drawer for months — is the new battery dead on arrival?
It is almost certainly not dead. A cell that has been in deep storage can drop below 2.5V, which triggers BMS lockout — the battery refuses to output current as a protection measure. Plug the phone into a wall charger using the original cable and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. The charge IC will trickle current into the cell until it climbs above the BMS recovery threshold, usually around 3.0V, at which point the phone will boot normally.
The battery percentage on my Moto G Pure jumps around erratically after I fitted the NT40 — it reads 60%, then suddenly 45%, then back to 55%.
That is the fuel gauge IC recalibrating to the new cell. The IC stores a learned discharge curve from the previous battery and it does not match the NT40's curve yet. Run one uninterrupted full discharge — let the phone shut itself off — then charge to 100% on a standard charger without interruption. The coulomb counter resets during that cycle and percentage reporting stabilises.
The Moto G Pure gets noticeably warm near the back panel during the first few charges with the replacement battery — is that normal?
A new Li-Polymer cell has higher internal impedance than a broken-in cell, so the charge IC works harder to push current through it on the first few cycles. That generates more heat than you would normally see. Charge on a flat surface with nothing covering the phone for the first two or three sessions. If the back is still warm to the touch — not hot — by cycle four, check that the charge IC has successfully switched out of trickle mode by confirming the charging indicator shows full current at around 5V input.
