Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

ZTE Axon 20 5G — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (Li3941T44P4H836249)
This 3.85V, 4100mAh Li-Polymer cell replaces the original battery in the ZTE Axon 20 5G, A2121G, A2121, and Rakuten BIG 5G. It matches the OEM part number Li3941T44P4H836249 and drops into the same physical envelope at 81.80 × 61.60 × 4.60mm. Capacity is rated at 15.79Wh — identical to the factory specification.
- Axon 20 5G platform fit: The A2121G, A2121, and Rakuten BIG 5G all share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — one cell covers the entire family without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge and discharge cycles on an A2121 unit. The BMS accepted the cell on first connect, charge termination triggered correctly at 4.4V, and the protection circuit tripped cleanly at low-voltage cutoff without requiring a manual reset.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-to-charge cycle. This gives the fuel gauge IC time to map the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging pushes amperage into an uncalibrated coulomb counter.
Why the Axon 20 5G reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap
The Axon 20 5G uses a coulomb-counting fuel gauge IC that builds its capacity model from historical charge and discharge data stored for the original cell. When a new cell goes in, that learned curve no longer matches the actual cell chemistry, so the percentage readout drifts — sometimes by 10–15 points. One full discharge to automatic shutdown followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% forces the IC to reset its reference points against the new cell. Until that cycle completes, percentage readings will not track accurately. Do not charge in short bursts during this first cycle.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell
This happens when the 5G modem or display pulls a current spike that drops cell voltage below the BMS protection threshold before the fuel gauge registers the drop. A fresh Li-Polymer cell with an uncalibrated fuel gauge is especially vulnerable in the first few cycles because the IC doesn't yet know where the real voltage cliff sits. The fix is to complete two full discharge-charge cycles without interruption — this lets the BMS and fuel gauge agree on the lower voltage boundary. If shutdowns continue past the second full cycle, check that cell voltage at rest sits above 3.7V before reassembling the device.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Axon 20 5G shuts off at around 25% after fitting the new battery — is the cell faulty?
Not necessarily. A new Li-Polymer cell paired with an uncalibrated fuel gauge IC will hit an unexpected voltage cliff when the 5G modem draws a current spike — the BMS trips the cell off before the OS registers the drop. Run two complete discharge-to-shutdown, then charge-to-100% cycles without short-charging in between. If the phone still cuts out after both cycles, check resting cell voltage: it should read above 3.7V when the phone reports 25% remaining.
USB fast charging stopped working the first time I plugged in after replacing the battery — what happened?
On the first connection after a cell swap, the charge IC re-negotiates the charging protocol with the new BMS. Some ZTE Axon 20 5G units fall back to standard 5W charging on that first session while the handshake completes. Disconnect the cable, power the phone off, then reconnect to a USB-PD charger — the protocol re-negotiation usually succeeds on the second connection. If fast charge still does not engage after a reboot, confirm the charger output is at least 9V/2A, as the Axon 20 5G's fast charge IC requires that minimum to step up from standard mode.
The phone feels warm near the battery area while charging the new cell — is that normal?
A new Li-Polymer cell has higher internal impedance than a cell that has been conditioned through several cycles, which means the charge IC dissipates more heat into the cell during the first few charges. This is normal and typically reduces after three to five full cycles as impedance drops. Keep the phone off a soft surface during charging and remove any thick case for the first few sessions so heat can dissipate through the back. If the rear panel becomes uncomfortably hot to hold — above roughly 45°C — stop the charge and let the cell rest at room temperature before resuming.
