Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Motorola Moto One Macro / XT2016 Series — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (KG40)
This is a 3800mAh, 3.85V lithium-polymer replacement battery for the Motorola Moto One Macro, Moto One Macro Dual SIM, XT2016-1, and XT2016-2. It replaces part number KG40 when the original cell has degraded or failed completely. At 14.63Wh, it matches the OEM energy rating for this handset.
- XT2016 platform fit: The XT2016-1 and XT2016-2 share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — both accept the KG40 cell without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the XT2016 platform. The BMS accepted the cell on first insertion, voltage settled at 3.85V nominal, and the charge IC engaged without fault flags.
- First-cycle fast charge protocol: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one full discharge-to-charge cycle at standard rate. This lets the fuel gauge IC recalibrate its discharge curve against the new cell before high-current charging pushes current into an uncalibrated state.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the KG40 replacement cell
This is a voltage cliff issue, not a capacity problem. The fuel gauge IC on the XT2016 was calibrated to the discharge curve of the original aged cell. When the new KG40 cell drops under modem or display load, voltage sags faster than the IC expects, and the phone interprets it as a dead cell. The fix is one complete uninterrupted discharge from 100% to automatic shutdown, followed by a full charge without interruption. After that cycle, the coulomb counter resets against the new cell's actual curve.
Phone won't power on after the KG40 sat in storage
Li-polymer cells shipped or stored in a discharged state can drop below 2.5V per cell, which triggers a BMS lockout to prevent damage. The XT2016 will show no response — no charge indicator, no vibration — if the cell is in lockout. Connect the phone to a wall adapter, not a PC port, and leave it undisturbed for 20–30 minutes before attempting to power on. If the charge IC detects voltage above the recovery threshold (typically around 2.7V), it will begin a trickle pre-charge and the battery icon will appear.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Moto One Macro shows the wrong battery percentage after fitting the KG40 — it jumped from 40% to 15% with no warning. What's causing this?
The fuel gauge IC on the XT2016 stores a learned discharge curve from the original cell. When you swap in a new KG40, that stored curve no longer matches the new cell's actual voltage profile, so the percentage reading drifts or jumps. Run one full uninterrupted discharge from 100% to automatic shutdown, then charge to 100% without unplugging early. After that single cycle, the coulomb counter recalibrates and percentage reporting stabilises.
Fast charging stopped working on my Moto One Macro the first time I plugged in after replacing the battery. Is the new cell rejecting the charger?
The charge IC on the XT2016 runs a handshake check on the first cycle after a new cell is detected. Some replacement cells present a slightly higher initial impedance, and the controller defaults to standard charge rate as a protective measure rather than allowing TurboPower current into an uncalibrated cell. Unplug, wait 10 seconds, and reconnect using the original Motorola TurboPower adapter — not a third-party cable. Fast charging typically re-engages on the second or third connection once the IC logs a stable open-circuit voltage from the new cell.
The Moto One Macro feels warm near the back panel while charging with the new KG40. Is that normal?
A new lithium-polymer cell has higher internal impedance than a broken-in cell, so the charge IC dissipates slightly more heat during the first few charge cycles as it works against that resistance. Warmth near the battery bay during the first two or three charges is expected and reduces as the cell cycles in. If the phone becomes hot to the touch — uncomfortable to hold — during a charge, remove it from the adapter and let it cool to room temperature before resuming. Normal break-in warmth drops off by the third full charge cycle.
