Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

MSI A6400 / CX640 / CR640 Series — 11.1V Li-ion Replacement Battery (A32-A15)
This 11.1V, 4400mAh (48.84Wh) Li-ion cell replaces the original battery in MSI A6400, CX640, CR640DX, and CR640MX laptops. It fits directly onto the same connector and BMS handshake used across this MSI notebook line. Use it when the original cell no longer holds a charge or causes the laptop to shut down unexpectedly.
- A6400 / CX640 / CR640 platform fit: These models share the same 11.1V three-cell battery rail, connector pinout, and OEM part numbers — A32-A15, A41-A15, A42-A15, and A42-H36 all cross-reference to this same cell group. The BMS communicates over the same SMBus lines across every unit in this cluster.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on a CX640 chassis. The BMS accepted the cell without error flags, completed a full charge cycle to 4.2V per cell, and held cutoff voltage at the expected threshold under load.
- Post-install discharge cycle on MSI notebooks: After fitting, run the laptop on battery until it hibernates at low-voltage cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without interruption. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap on this platform.
BIOS reporting battery health as poor immediately after fitting this cell
The MSI BIOS reads health data from EEPROM registers that were written by the original cell. A new cell carries different cycle count and capacity data, so the BIOS flags it as degraded on first boot — even when the cell is at full capacity. This is not a fault with the replacement. Run one complete discharge-to-hibernate followed by a full uninterrupted charge. After two to three of these learn cycles, the BIOS recalibrates and the health warning clears.
Laptop shutting down at 20–30% charge shown on screen
This happens when the fuel gauge IC has not yet calibrated against the new cell's actual voltage curve. The OS reads the state-of-charge from a table built on the old cell — so it reports 25% remaining while the real cell voltage has already hit the low-voltage cutoff threshold. The laptop shuts down because the hardware protection trips, not because the gauge is accurate. Run two full discharge-to-cutoff and charge-to-100% cycles; the fuel gauge IC updates its curve and the percentage readout aligns with actual cell voltage.

Frequently Asked Questions
MSI A6400 BIOS shows the new battery as "unknown" or 0% on first boot — is the cell faulty?
No — the BIOS is reading EEPROM data written by the original cell and has no record of the new one yet. It flags "unknown" or 0% until the learn cycle completes. Discharge the laptop fully to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. After one to two complete cycles the BIOS recognises the cell and the reading clears.
System info shows the wrong Wh rating after fitting this battery on a CR640 — it lists a different capacity than what the cell is rated at.
The Wh figure shown in Windows or the BIOS is pulled from the EEPROM on the cell, which stores the manufacturer's rated chemistry value. The actual delivered capacity can differ slightly from that figure depending on temperature and load. The cell in this listing is rated at 48.84Wh; if your system info shows a different number, it is reading a cached EEPROM value from the previous cell. Run a full discharge and charge cycle — the system will refresh the register and display the correct figure.
CX640 charge stops at 80% and won't go higher after fitting the replacement cell — nothing charges past that point.
This is a BIOS-controlled charge limit, not a fault with the cell. MSI notebooks on this platform include a battery conservation mode that caps charging at 80% to reduce long-term cell stress. It is toggled in MSI's Dragon Center or EC Firmware settings — it does not indicate a problem with the replacement. Open Dragon Center, navigate to Battery, and switch the charge mode from "Best for Battery" to "Best for Mobility" to restore charging to 100%.
