This is a 3.8V, 2200mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the MTC 874FT mobile hotspot. It fits the B1501 OEM part number and slots directly into the 874FT chassis. If your original battery no longer sustains a hotspot session through normal daily use, this is the correct replacement cell.

874FT won't power on after sitting unused for several weeks

Li-ion cells self-discharge slowly during storage. If the 874FT sits unused long enough, the battery drops below the minimum boot voltage — typically around 3.0V for a 3.8V nominal cell. At that level, the device shows no response to the power button. Connect the hotspot to a charger for at least 15–20 minutes before attempting to power on; most BMS circuits need to detect a minimum charge threshold before they allow the device to boot.

The 874FT battery seems to drain much faster when I'm in an area with weak signal — is something wrong with the replacement cell?

Nothing is wrong. In poor signal areas, the LTE modem continuously increases transmit power trying to maintain the network connection — this is standard cellular behaviour, not a battery fault. That elevated radio draw pulls significantly more current from the 3.8V cell than normal conditions. Move the hotspot closer to a window or elevated position to improve signal strength and reduce modem output power.

The 874FT won't turn on at all after I left it in a drawer for a month — did the new battery fail?

The battery likely self-discharged below the minimum boot voltage during storage. Plug the 874FT into its charger and leave it connected for at least 20 minutes without pressing the power button. The BMS needs to detect enough charge to re-enable output before the device can start. If the indicator light comes on during that window, the battery is recovering — wait for it to reach at least 3.2V before powering on.
