Fits MTC 968 smartphone and replaces OEM battery MTC-968 with 3.7V, 1750mAh chemistry.
3.7V lithium-ion at 1750mAh delivers 6.48Wh to the MTC 968 modem and display stack.
Connector slots vertically into the battery bay with a single locking tab on the right edge.
We bench-tested the cell on a MTC platform simulator — BMS accepted charge input at 5V/2A, fuel gauge IC took one full cycle to map the new discharge curve.
On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle so the fuel gauge IC recalibrates against this cell's discharge curve before high-current charging resumes.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

MTC 968 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 3.7V, 1750mAh Li-ion cell built to replace the original battery in the MTC 968 smartphone. It fits the 968 directly and matches the original voltage rail and connector. Capacity is 1750mAh (6.48Wh), sourced from the product specification — not estimated from a third-party listing.

  • MTC 968 fit: The 968 runs a 3.7V single-cell architecture. This replacement matches that voltage rail and connector pinout exactly, so the charge IC and fuel gauge IC receive the signal handshake they expect on first boot.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on the bench. The BMS held charge termination at the correct cutoff voltage and did not trigger overcurrent protection during a simulated screen-on load draw.
  • First-cycle fast charge tip: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and complete one full discharge-charge cycle at standard rate. This lets the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging is applied to an uncalibrated cell.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on a replacement cell

This is a voltage cliff problem, not a capacity problem. Under modem activity or screen-at-max-brightness load, the cell voltage drops sharply below the threshold the OS uses to predict remaining charge. The phone shuts down before the display percentage reaches zero because the fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve. One full discharge-charge cycle at standard rate resets the coulomb counter and corrects the shutdown point.

Phone will not power on after the battery sat discharged in storage

If a Li-ion cell drops below approximately 2.5V per cell, the BMS enters a protection lockout and blocks normal charge current. The phone appears completely dead — no boot logo, no charge indicator. Connect the phone to a wall adapter rated at 5V/1A or higher and leave it for 15–20 minutes before pressing the power button. The charge IC trickle-charges the cell back above the BMS wake threshold, typically around 2.8–3.0V, before allowing full charge current to resume.

Frequently Asked Questions

The MTC 968 shows 25% battery and then shuts off with no warning — is this a faulty cell?

Not necessarily faulty. This is a voltage cliff: under screen or modem load, the new cell's voltage drops faster than the fuel gauge IC expects, because the IC is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve. The OS reads a false percentage and the phone cuts out before it reaches 0%. Run one complete discharge-charge cycle at standard charge speed — no fast charging — and the coulomb counter recalibrates to the new cell.

After fitting the new battery, the MTC 968 is showing the wrong percentage — it jumped from 60% to 90% without charging.

The fuel gauge IC stores a discharge model for the original cell. When you swap in a new cell, the IC has no accurate reference point, so it estimates wildly and the percentage jumps erratically. This is normal on the first cycle. Do a full discharge to auto-shutdown, then charge to 100% at the standard rate with fast charging off — that single cycle gives the IC enough data to rebuild an accurate model.

The MTC 968 gets warm near the battery during the first few charges after replacement — should I be concerned?

A new high-impedance cell generates more heat during initial charging than a broken-in cell does. The charge IC is pushing current into a cell with slightly higher internal resistance than a used cell, so moderate warmth in the first two or three charges is expected. If the phone becomes hot to the touch or the charge IC triggers a thermal cutoff and stops charging mid-session, switch to a 5V/1A standard charger and avoid charging on a soft surface. Temperature should normalise after the first few cycles as internal resistance drops.
