Fits TCL A860, A998, W989, A968 smartphones; replaces OEM battery CS-OT995XL.
3.7V, 1750mAh Li-ion cell restores full charge cycles to devices showing rapid drain or shutdown.
Connector solders directly to phone circuit board; requires removal of rear casing and adhesive tape.
Bench testing showed stable voltage under 500mA discharge load; BMS accepted standard 5V USB charging on first insertion.
On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle — this lets the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell discharge curve.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

TCL A860 / A998 / W989 / A968 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 3.7V, 1750mAh Li-ion cell for the TCL A860, A998, W989, and A968 smartphones. It fits directly in place of the original cell using the same connector and footprint. Use the capacity figure from this listing — 1750mAh — not third-party sources.

  • A860 / A998 / W989 / A968 platform fit: These models share the same battery bay dimensions (64.60 × 43.95 × 5.10mm), connector pinout, and charge IC handshake. One cell covers all four without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on the A860 platform. The BMS accepted the charge IC handshake without flagging an error, and voltage held steady through a full screen-on load cycle.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After fitting this cell, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge down to automatic shutdown, then charge to 100% on standard current. This gives the fuel gauge IC one full cycle against the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging is applied to an uncalibrated cell.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the TCL A860 after a cell swap

This happens because the fuel gauge IC is still referencing the old cell's discharge curve. When the phone draws high current — modem, GPS, or screen at full brightness — the new cell's voltage drops faster than the IC expects. The phone interprets that as a critically low cell and cuts power before the percentage display catches up. One full discharge-charge cycle on standard current lets the coulomb counter re-map to the actual curve. After that cycle, shutdowns at 20–30% stop.

USB charging not starting after the phone sat in storage with a flat battery

If a Li-ion cell drops below approximately 2.5V per cell during long storage, the BMS locks out to prevent an unsafe charge into an over-discharged cell. The phone shows no charging indicator and will not power on. Connect to a 5V USB source and leave it for 20–30 minutes without attempting to power on — the BMS uses a low-current trickle path to bring the cell back above the lockout threshold. Once voltage recovers above roughly 3.0V, normal charging resumes and the boot sequence will proceed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is my TCL A860 showing the wrong battery percentage after I replaced the cell?

The fuel gauge IC calibrated itself against the old cell's discharge curve — it has no data on the new cell yet. Until it runs one full cycle, the percentage reading is an extrapolation, not a real measurement. Run the phone down to automatic shutdown on standard use, then charge to 100% without fast charging. After that single cycle, the coulomb counter recalibrates and the percentage display stabilises.

My TCL A860 feels warm near the battery while charging the new cell — is something wrong?

A new Li-ion cell starts with higher internal impedance than a broken-in cell. The charge IC pushes current into that higher resistance, and the extra energy dissipates as heat. This is normal for the first few cycles and not a sign of a fault. If the phone becomes hot to the touch rather than warm, or if charging stops mid-cycle, check that the connector is fully seated and the charge port is clear of debris.

Fast charging worked before I swapped the battery — now it only charges slowly. What changed?

On the first cycle after a cell swap, the BMS on the new cell may not yet have completed the handshake required for the phone's fast-charge protocol. The charge IC defaults to standard current until it confirms the cell can accept high current safely. Run one full standard-current charge to 100% — the BMS completes its initialisation during that cycle. Fast charging should resume on the following charge without any further action.
