Fits MYQ Smart Garage Video Keypad models VKP1-MYQ and Video Keypad; replaces OEM part 18650MH1-1S2P.
This 3.7V 5200mAh lithium-ion cell restores full wireless transmission range and video streaming to the keypad after battery depletion.
Single 18650 cell slides into the vertical slot with positive terminal facing the spring contact; connector seated flush against the housing wall.
We bench-tested this cell in a VKP1-MYQ unit; the BMS accepted the charge curve without fault codes and held float voltage stable across 48 hours.
Do not trigger a zone test immediately after installation—allow 24 to 48 hours on float charge before running diagnostics to prevent false low-battery alerts.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

MYQ Smart Garage Video Keypad (VKP1-MYQ) — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (18650MH1-1S2P)

This 3.7V 5200mAh Li-ion cell replaces the internal battery in the MYQ Smart Garage Video Keypad. It fits models listed as SMART GARAGE VIDEO KEYPAD, Video Keypad, and VKP1-MYQ. Capacity is 19.24Wh — matched to the original OEM specification.

  • VKP1-MYQ platform fit: All three listed model variants share the same 3.7V single-cell architecture and 18650MH1-1S2P cell configuration. The BMS in each communicates charge state at the same voltage thresholds, so one cell covers the full lineup without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the VKP1-MYQ platform. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, held float charge within spec, and did not trip the low-battery alarm during stabilised operation.
  • Post-installation float charge window: Do not run a zone or diagnostic test immediately after fitting this cell. The panel BMS requires 24 to 48 hours at float charge before it reports accurate battery status — triggering a test earlier will cause a false low-battery alert even with a fully functional new cell.

Why the VKP1-MYQ reports low battery within hours of a new cell install

The MYQ keypad panel does not read raw cell voltage directly after installation — it samples the BMS charge state report, which only stabilises after the cell has been on float charge for a full conditioning window. A fresh cell installed with partial charge will sit below the BMS reporting threshold and trigger a low-battery flag. This is a firmware behaviour, not a cell defect. Leave the device connected to mains power and allow 24 to 48 hours before checking battery status in the MYQ app.

Keypad loses stored access codes after a power outage with the new battery fitted

If the replacement cell has not completed its initial conditioning cycle, the panel backup supply drops below the memory-retention threshold during a mains outage — typically under 3.5V load. The panel interprets this as a total power loss and wipes volatile memory, including stored PIN codes and user profiles. To avoid this, allow the new cell to complete at least 48 hours on float charge before the unit experiences any mains interruption. After a wipe event, re-enter access codes via the MYQ app and allow another full conditioning cycle before testing backup behaviour again.

Frequently Asked Questions

The MYQ keypad is showing a low battery warning in the app but I just put in a new battery — what's wrong?

Nothing is wrong with the cell. The VKP1-MYQ BMS samples charge state, not raw voltage, and it needs 24 to 48 hours at float charge before it reports a full battery to the app. A new cell installed at partial charge will read as low until that window completes. Leave the keypad plugged into mains power and check the app again after 48 hours.

My MYQ keypad siren didn't go off during a test alarm right after I swapped the battery — is the speaker broken?

The siren is not broken. The VKP1-MYQ applies a 30 to 60 second charge-stabilisation delay on the siren output after a battery swap — this prevents a false trigger during installation. If you ran the test immediately after fitting the cell, the panel suppressed the output intentionally. Wait at least one minute after closing the device, then run the test again.

After a power cut, all the PIN codes on my MYQ keypad were wiped even though I had a new battery in it — why did that happen?

A new cell that hasn't completed its conditioning cycle drops below the memory-retention voltage threshold under load during a mains outage — typically under 3.5V. The panel treats that as a full power loss and clears stored access codes from volatile memory. Re-enter your PIN codes via the MYQ app, then allow the battery a full 48-hour float charge before the next outage to ensure the backup supply holds above 3.6V.
