Fits Nikon Z50, Z30, and ZFC mirrorless camera bodies; replaces OEM part EN-EL25 and VFB12502.
7.6V and 1280mAh capacity delivers the same power envelope as the factory pack for sensor, autofocus, and flash operation.
Uses a flat connector with a single locking tab; slides into the battery compartment with the contacts facing the camera chamber wall.
Bench testing showed the BMS accepted the cell on first insertion without fault codes; voltage held steady through a full discharge cycle with live view and flash cycles.
On first use, charge this cell inside the camera body or OEM charger once before extended shooting — Nikon bodies require an internal charge cycle to map battery-remaining percentage display to the new cell's discharge curve.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

NiKon Z50 / Z30 / ZFC — 7.6V Li-ion Replacement Battery (EN-EL25)

This is a 7.6V, 1280mAh Li-ion cell built to the EN-EL25 specification. It fits the NiKon Z50, Z50 ZFC, Z30, and Z FC mirrorless camera bodies. Voltage and cell format match the OEM part exactly.

  • Z50, Z30, and ZFC platform fit: All four models share the EN-EL25 battery bay, the same 7.6V nominal voltage rail, and the same BMS handshake protocol. One cell format covers the full lineup.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the Z50 body and an OEM-compatible charger. The BMS accepted the cell, reported charge state correctly, and held voltage within expected thresholds across discharge.
  • First-cycle initialisation on the Z50: Run the first full charge from inside the camera body or an OEM-spec charger — not a generic USB charger. The Z50's BMS maps the discharge curve on that first cycle to calibrate the battery-remaining display. Skipping this step causes the indicator to read inaccurately from the start.

Battery percentage jumping on the Z50 display with a new cell

The Z50 uses a voltage-threshold model to estimate remaining charge. A new third-party cell has a slightly different discharge curve than the OEM cell the firmware was calibrated against. This makes the indicator jump — often dropping suddenly from 60% to 20% with no warning. The fix is one full charge-discharge cycle run entirely within the camera body. After that cycle, the BMS has enough curve data to map percentage accurately, and the jumping stops.

Z50 showing incompatible battery or refusing to power on with a new EN-EL25 cell

The Z50 runs an authentication check on insert. If the cell arrives partially discharged — typically below 3.5V per cell — the BMS may reject it outright and display an incompatible or no-battery warning. Place the cell in an OEM-compatible charger and bring it to full charge before inserting it into the camera body. Once fully charged, reinsert and power on. If the body still rejects it, hold the power button for 10 seconds to force a BMS re-initialisation cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Z50 shot count dropped way below what Nikon rates — is the cell faulty?

Shot count ratings assume a specific mix of single-shot stills with the EVF off and no video. On the Z50, continuous autofocus, the electronic viewfinder, in-body stabilisation, and 4K video all add significant draw beyond that baseline. A cell at full 1280mAh capacity will still read a lower shot count under those conditions — that's load, not a faulty cell. Check your shooting mode and EVF usage before concluding the cell is underperforming.

The Z50 gets noticeably warm during long video clips — is that a battery problem?

The heat comes from the sensor, image processor, and stabilisation system running simultaneously — not from the battery alone. The EN-EL25 cell does contribute some heat as it delivers sustained current across that combined draw, but the primary source is the camera internals. If the body shuts down, it's a thermal protection cutoff in the camera, not a BMS trip. Keep the body out of direct sunlight and allow a cool-down period between long recording sessions.

Flash isn't fully recycling between shots near the end of a charge — what's happening?

The flash capacitor draws a high burst of current to recharge between shots. Late in the discharge curve — typically below 7.0V on a 7.6V cell — voltage sag under that burst current slows the capacitor recharge cycle. The camera body may also reduce flash output to protect the remaining cell capacity. This is expected behaviour as the cell approaches its lower cutoff voltage. Swap to a fresh cell or recharge before a flash-heavy shoot to avoid this.
