Fits Nokia Lumia 435, Lumia 532 models; replaces OEM part number BV-5J.
3.7V lithium-ion pack rated 1300mAh—supplies stable voltage for the modem, screen, and processor without early cutoff.
Connector seats flush into the non-removable battery slot; locking tab engages from the left side only.
Bench testing shows the BMS accepts charge current immediately; fuel gauge IC reads zero until first full discharge cycle completes.
On first charge cycle, disable any fast-charge option in settings—the fuel gauge needs one complete discharge against this new cell curve before accepting higher current.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Nokia Lumia 435 / Lumia 532 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BV-5J)

This is a 3.7V, 1300mAh Li-ion cell that replaces the OEM BV-5J battery in the Nokia Lumia 435, Lumia 532, and RM-1070. All three models use the same battery bay dimensions, connector, and BMS handshake protocol. Capacity is 1300mAh (4.81Wh), matching the original Nokia specification.

  • Lumia 435, 532, and RM-1070 compatibility: These three models share an identical battery cavity at 60.00 × 37.90 × 5.72mm, the same 3.7V nominal voltage rail, and the same three-pin connector layout. The BMS handshake requirement is consistent across all three, so one cell covers the full group.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through a full discharge-charge sequence on a Lumia 532 test unit. The BMS accepted the cell without error flags, charge termination triggered correctly at 4.2V, and the fuel gauge IC tracked state-of-charge without reset prompts.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After fitting this cell, disable any fast-charge mode and run one complete discharge down to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This gives the fuel gauge IC one full reference cycle against the new cell's actual discharge curve before high-current charging is applied.

Why the Lumia 435 reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap

The Lumia 435 uses a coulomb-counting fuel gauge IC that builds its state-of-charge model from the original cell's discharge history. When a new cell goes in, the IC is still running calculations against the old cell's degraded curve. The percentage shown on screen reflects that stale model, not the actual charge in the new cell. One full discharge-to-shutdown followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% resets the reference curve and brings percentage readings back in line.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% remaining on the new cell

This happens when the modem radio or display triggers a brief high-current draw and the cell voltage drops below the BMS low-voltage cutoff threshold — even though the fuel gauge still shows charge remaining. On a freshly installed, uncalibrated cell, the fuel gauge IC has not yet mapped where the voltage cliff actually sits. The BMS cuts power to protect the cell before the displayed percentage reaches zero. Run the calibration cycle described above; after one full reference cycle, the fuel gauge correctly anticipates the voltage drop and low-battery warnings fire before the cutoff triggers.

Frequently Asked Questions

The phone powered off at around 25% and now won't turn back on — is the new battery dead?

It is not dead. The BMS tripped a low-voltage cutoff during a high-draw moment — typically the modem radio — and locked the cell out to prevent over-discharge. Plug into a wall charger (not a PC USB port) and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. Once the cell recovers above 3.0V per cell, the BMS releases the lockout and the phone will boot normally.

Fast charging stopped working the first time I charged the replacement cell — it just trickle charges now.

The charge IC on the Lumia 435 runs a compatibility check on the first cycle with a new cell. If the cell's internal impedance reads higher than the IC expects — common on a fresh, uncycled cell — it drops to trickle current as a precaution. Let the first charge complete fully at that slow rate without interrupting it. On the second cycle, impedance drops as the cell conditions, and the charge IC resumes normal current delivery.

The battery percentage jumps around erratically — goes from 60% to 80% then drops to 45% without explanation.

This is the fuel gauge IC recalibrating against a cell it has no discharge history for. The coulomb counter has lost its reference points and is estimating state-of-charge from voltage alone, which produces unstable readings. Run one full cycle: discharge the phone to automatic shutdown, then charge in one uninterrupted session to 100%. After that single reference cycle, the IC locks onto the new cell's discharge curve and percentage readings stabilise.
