Fits Nokia Lumia 928 and RM860 models, replaces OEM battery BV-4NW.
3.8V, 2000mAh Li-Polymer delivers continuous power to processor, display, modem, and camera functions.
Connector slides straight down into battery slot with positive terminal forward and locking tab engaged.
We bench-tested this cell against stock discharge curves; BMS accepted full charge voltage without throttling on first cycle.
On first use after installation, run one complete discharge-charge cycle without fast charging to let the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell's voltage curve.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Nokia Lumia 928 / RM-860 — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BV-4NW)

This is a 3.8V, 2000mAh Li-Polymer replacement cell for the Nokia Lumia 928 (RM-860, RM-5250). It slots into the same bay as the original BV-4NW and reconnects to the same charge IC and fuel gauge. Capacity figures are taken from the product specification, not estimated.

  • Lumia 928 / RM-860 / RM-5250 compatibility: All three model numbers share the same physical bay, the same 3.8V charging rail, and the same BMS handshake points. One cell covers all three without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell on a Lumia 928 unit and monitored BMS communication across charge and discharge. The protection circuit held cutoff correctly at both ends and the charge IC accepted the cell without fault flags.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first cycle: After installing this cell, disable fast charging and run one full discharge down to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This gives the fuel gauge IC a clean reference discharge curve before it starts reporting percentage to the OS.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Lumia 928 after a cell swap

When the phone shuts off at 20–30% remaining, the fuel gauge IC is still reading the discharge curve from the old, degraded cell. The new cell's voltage drops faster under modem or display load than the IC expects, so the phone hits its cutoff voltage before the percentage reaches zero. This is a calibration issue, not a fault with the replacement cell. One full discharge-to-shutdown followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% resets the coulomb counter and resolves the early cutoff.

Phone will not power on after the BV-4NW sat in storage

Li-Polymer cells in storage self-discharge slowly. If the cell drops below roughly 2.5V, the BMS enters a lockout state and the phone shows no response to the power button. Connect the phone to a wall charger — not a PC USB port — and leave it for 15–20 minutes without pressing anything. The charge IC trickle-charges the cell back above the BMS unlock threshold, after which normal charging resumes. If the charging indicator does not appear after 30 minutes on wall power, the cell has discharged below recoverable voltage.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Lumia 928 percentage jumps around erratically after I put in the new BV-4NW — is something wrong with the cell?

Nothing is wrong with the cell. The fuel gauge IC on the Lumia 928 was calibrated to the discharge curve of the old, worn cell, and the new cell behaves differently enough to confuse it. Run one complete discharge cycle — let the phone shut itself off, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — and the coulomb counter will re-anchor to the new cell's curve. Erratic percentages typically stop after that single cycle.

Fast charging stopped working on the Lumia 928 right after I replaced the battery — what happened?

On the first charge cycle with a new cell, the charge IC can refuse to enter fast-charge mode because the BMS has not yet confirmed a valid cell state to the power management circuit. Charge once at standard rate with the original Nokia charger, let it reach 100%, then disconnect and reconnect. Most Lumia 928 units resume normal charge behaviour on the second cycle once the BMS has completed its first full handshake with the new cell.

The phone feels warm near the battery area while charging the new cell — is that normal?

A new Li-Polymer cell at full rated impedance draws charge current slightly differently than a broken-in cell, and the charge IC on the Lumia 928 dissipates that difference as heat during the first few cycles. The warmth should be noticeable but not uncomfortable to hold. If the back becomes hot enough to cause discomfort, disconnect immediately and let the phone cool to room temperature before reconnecting. The heat typically reduces after two or three full charge cycles as the cell's internal impedance settles.
