Fits Nortel NTTQ4021E6 and NTTQ4044E6 cordless handsets; replaces OEM battery NTTQ4021E6.
3.7V lithium-ion at 1800mAh delivers stable voltage across the talk cycle on DECT handsets.
Connector slides into the battery slot on the handset base with a positive-side-up orientation.
We bench-tested this cell in a NTTQ4021E6 handset; BMS accepted the pack on first insertion and held voltage under simulated RF load.
After installing, seat the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use—Li-ion packs in DECT phones need this slow initial charge to calibrate the base station's fuel gauge.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Nortel NTTQ4021E6 / NTTQ4044E6 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 3.7V, 1800mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Nortel NTTQ4021E6 and NTTQ4044E6 cordless handsets. It restores power to handsets where the original cell has degraded and no longer holds a charge. Voltage and connector match the original cell — no modification needed.

  • NTTQ4021E6 and NTTQ4044E6 compatibility: Both models run off the same 3.7V Li-ion cell with identical connector pinout and BMS handshake. One battery covers both handsets in mixed Nortel deployments.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the NTTQ platform. The BMS accepted charge from the Nortel base station without error and held voltage within spec across full discharge.
  • First charge on a Nortel DECT handset: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full charge cycle before first use. Li-ion cells shipped in storage-state benefit from a complete initial charge to reach rated capacity — pulling the handset off early will give you a false low baseline.

Talk time shorter than the original battery after replacement

A new Li-ion cell is shipped at partial charge — typically 30–50% — to slow chemical aging during storage. When you install it and run the handset immediately, the available capacity is lower than rated. Full rated capacity at 1800mAh is only accessible after the cell completes at least one full charge cycle on the base. If talk time still seems short after two or three full cycles, check that the base station contacts are clean and making firm contact with the handset.

Base station showing no charge or error light after new battery installed

Nortel base stations check incoming voltage before starting a charge cycle. A cell that has dropped below roughly 2.5V during storage may read as a fault rather than a dischargeable battery. If the base shows an error light, remove the handset, wait 30 seconds, and re-seat it firmly — this resets the base's charge detection logic. If the error persists, use a compatible external Li-ion charger to bring the cell up to 3.0V, then return it to the base to complete the charge normally.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Nortel handset won't pair with the base after I replaced the battery — did I damage something?

Removing the battery completely cuts power to the handset's memory, and some DECT handsets drop their pairing registration when power is lost. The handset itself is not damaged. Re-register it to the base using the pairing procedure in your Nortel system manual — on most Nortel DECT setups this means holding the page/find button on the base for 5 seconds while the handset is in registration mode.

The handset is fully charged but the range is noticeably worse than before — what's happening?

Range drops when the handset's RF transmit circuit can't sustain voltage under load. If the new battery's resting voltage is fine but sags once the radio fires, the cell hasn't completed enough charge cycles to deliver stable current. Run two or three complete charge-discharge cycles on the base before judging range. If sag continues, clean the base contacts with isopropyl alcohol — a resistive connection reduces effective charge current and leaves the cell undercharged even when the indicator shows full.

The battery drains overnight even when the handset is sitting in the base — is the battery faulty?

This is almost always a seating issue, not a faulty cell. The handset must make firm contact with the base charging pins for the base to supply trickle charge. If the handset sits slightly off-centre or the contacts are oxidised, standby draw from the handset's DECT radio will drain the cell with no charging to offset it. Remove the handset, inspect the gold charging contacts on both the handset and base, clean them with a dry cloth, and re-seat the handset — you should hear or feel it click into position.
