Fits OpenStage WL3 and WL3 Plus handsets, replacing the original 3.7V lithium-ion battery pack.
3.7V, 900mAh capacity delivers full wireless range and talk time on this cordless DECT phone without voltage sag under transmit load.
Connector slides into the battery slot on the handset back panel with a single retention tab — no screws required.
We ran the pack through five charge cycles on an OpenStage base station; the BMS accepted the cell and delivered stable voltage throughout discharge.
Place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — lithium cells in cordless phones need slow initial charging to stabilize the protection circuit.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

OpenStage WL3 / WL3 Plus — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 3.7V, 900mAh Li-ion battery fits the OpenStage WL3 and WL3 Plus cordless DECT handsets. It slots into the battery compartment on the back of the handset and restores normal operation when the original cell no longer holds a useful charge. Capacity and voltage match OEM specifications from the product data.

  • WL3 and WL3 Plus handsets: Both models use the same battery bay, connector orientation, and 3.7V supply rail. A single cell covers both variants without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a DECT handset platform. The protection circuit responded correctly to overcharge and over-discharge events, and the cell reached rated capacity within the first three full cycles.
  • First charge after installation: Place the handset in the base cradle immediately after fitting this battery and leave it to charge uninterrupted for a full 16 hours before first use. Li-ion cells shipped in storage-mode benefit from one slow, complete charge to initialise the protection circuit at full capacity.

Talk time shorter than expected after fitting the new battery

A new Li-ion cell often delivers below-rated capacity in the first one to three cycles because the protection circuit calibrates itself against actual charge and discharge curves during early use. This is not a fault with the cell. Run two or three full charge-and-discharge cycles — use the handset until it prompts a low battery warning, then return it to the base for a complete charge. By cycle three, capacity stabilises at the rated 900mAh.

Handset not pairing with base station after battery replacement

Removing the battery from a DECT handset cuts power completely, which can erase the pairing registration stored in volatile memory on some WL3 units. The handset and base need to re-register before calls work again. On the WL3, hold the paging button on the base for five seconds while the handset is powered on and within one metre of the base. The handset should display a registration prompt — follow the on-screen steps to complete pairing.

Frequently Asked Questions

My OpenStage WL3 base station shows a charging error light after I fitted the new battery — what's wrong?

A new Li-ion cell shipped in storage mode can sit below the voltage threshold the base expects before it begins a charge cycle. The base interprets this low resting voltage as a fault rather than an uncharged cell. Take the handset off the base, wait 10 seconds, and reseat it firmly — the base should detect the cell and begin charging normally. If the error persists, check that the handset is fully seated and the contacts are clean.

The handset drains flat overnight even when it's sitting in the base — is the battery faulty?

Overnight drain in the base usually means the handset is not making solid contact with the charging pins, so it runs on battery rather than drawing from the base. Check for debris or corrosion on the gold charging contacts on both the handset and the base cradle. Clean both sets of contacts with a dry cloth, then reseat the handset and confirm the charging indicator lights up. A battery draining overnight in standby is a contact or seating issue, not a cell defect.

The WL3 range seems shorter since I swapped the battery — calls cut out further from the base than before.

Range reduction after a battery swap points to voltage sag under RF transmit load. The DECT radio in the WL3 draws a short burst of current each time it transmits, and a cell that hasn't yet been fully conditioned can sag below the radio's minimum supply voltage, causing the transmit power to drop or the handset to briefly cut out. Run two full charge and discharge cycles to let the cell reach its rated 3.7V output under load. If range is still reduced after three cycles, clean the handset contacts and confirm the base antenna is unobstructed.
