Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Oppo Reno 4 4G / Reno 5 Lite — 3.87V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BLP853)
This is a 3.87V, 4400mAh (17.03Wh) lithium-polymer cell built to the BLP853 specification. It fits the Oppo Reno 4 4G (CPH2113) and Reno 5 Lite (CPH2205). The physical dimensions are 85.50 × 62.40 × 4.50mm — confirm these against your original cell before ordering.
- CPH2113 and CPH2205 compatibility: Both handsets run the same 3.87V battery rail, share the BLP853 connector pinout, and use the same BMS handshake protocol. One cell covers both models without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on a CPH2113 unit. The BMS accepted the charge handshake cleanly, protection thresholds triggered correctly at low voltage, and no thermal anomalies appeared during the charge-to-full cycle.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: Disable fast charging for the first complete discharge-charge cycle after installation. The fuel gauge IC in these Oppo devices calibrates its coulomb counter against the cell's discharge curve — fast charging before that baseline is set can produce skewed percentage readings for weeks.
Why the Reno 4 4G reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap
The fuel gauge IC stores a learned discharge curve from the old cell. When a new BLP853 cell goes in, that stored curve no longer matches the actual cell chemistry, so the reported percentage drifts — usually reading higher than reality. One complete slow charge-discharge cycle forces the coulomb counter to reset its baseline against the new cell. After that single calibration cycle, percentage accuracy returns to normal. Do not top up mid-cycle — let the phone drain to auto-shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100%.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell
This happens when the modem or display fires a high-current draw and the cell cannot hold voltage above the BMS cutoff threshold — even though the gauge still shows charge remaining. It is a calibration problem, not a faulty cell. The BMS trips at roughly 3.0V per cell because the fuel gauge sent no warning. Run the recalibration cycle described above — one full drain to shutdown, one uninterrupted charge to 100%. If shutdowns persist past two full cycles, measure resting cell voltage with a multimeter; a healthy resting cell at 30% reported charge should sit above 3.6V.

Frequently Asked Questions
Fast charging stopped working after I swapped the battery on my Reno 4 4G — is the charger broken?
The charger is almost certainly fine. On the first cycle after a BLP853 cell swap, the USB-PD and VOOC handshake can fail because the BMS on the new cell has not yet completed its initialisation sequence. Plug in the original charger and let the phone charge slowly on the first cycle without interrupting it. Once that cycle completes, fast charging normally re-engages on the second charge.
My Reno 5 Lite gets noticeably warm near the battery during the first few charges after replacing the cell — should I be concerned?
Some warmth during early cycles on a new BLP853 cell is expected. A fresh high-impedance cell presents slightly more resistance to the charge IC than a broken-in cell, which generates mild heat until internal resistance drops after a few cycles. If the phone becomes too hot to hold comfortably, stop charging and check that the replacement cell dimensions — 85.50 × 62.40 × 4.50mm — match your original exactly, as an oversized cell pressed against the chassis can trap heat. Warmth that fades after the first three cycles is normal.
My Oppo Reno 4 4G won't power on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months — what happened?
The BMS locks out the cell if voltage drops below approximately 2.5V during storage — a protection state that prevents a deeply discharged lithium-polymer cell from taking a standard charge current. Connect the phone to its original charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button; the charge IC trickle-charges the cell back above the BMS re-enable threshold. Once the charging indicator appears on screen, voltage has recovered enough for a normal charge cycle to begin.
