Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the U701 after a cell swap

The U701's fuel gauge IC retains the discharge curve from the old, degraded cell. When the new cell hits a voltage point the IC associates with a low-charge warning, it triggers shutdown — even though the cell still has usable capacity. This is not a fault in the replacement cell. One full discharge-charge cycle with fast charging disabled lets the coulomb counter reset against the new cell's actual voltage floor. After that cycle, the shutdown threshold aligns to the correct state of charge.

Phone not powering on after the BLP519 sat in storage

If the replacement cell was stored discharged for an extended period, the BMS may have locked the cell out below 2.5V per cell — a protection state that blocks normal boot. Connect the phone to a wall charger, not a PC port, and leave it for 20–30 minutes before attempting to power on. The charge IC will trickle current into the cell to bring it above the BMS re-enable threshold. If the charging indicator does not appear within 45 minutes, check that the connector is fully seated at both the cell tab and the board socket.

My Oppo U701 keeps shutting off at around 25% after I put in the new BLP519 — what's causing that?

The fuel gauge IC on the U701 is still referencing the discharge curve it learned from the old, worn cell. When the new cell's voltage at 25% doesn't match what the IC expects, it reads it as critically low and cuts the phone. This is a calibration gap, not a cell fault. Run one full discharge down to automatic shutdown, then charge to 100% with fast charging off — the coulomb counter resets against the new cell after that cycle.

The battery percentage on my U701 is jumping around randomly after fitting the BLP519 — is something wrong with the cell?

Nothing is wrong with the cell. The fuel gauge IC calibrated itself to the old cell's impedance and capacity profile, and the new cell doesn't match that stored curve yet. Erratic percentage readings are the IC trying to reconcile real-time voltage against an outdated model. One uninterrupted full discharge-charge cycle — with the screen on for part of the discharge to draw steady current — gives the IC enough data to build an accurate curve for the new cell.

Fast charging stopped working on my R817 after I replaced the battery — it only charges slowly now.

On the first cycle after a cell swap, the R817's charge IC sometimes defaults to standard charging mode until it handshakes with the new cell's BMS and confirms the cell can accept higher current safely. Fully discharge the phone and run one complete standard charge to 100%. On the second cycle, plug into the original Oppo charger — the proprietary fast-charge protocol re-negotiates at the start of a fresh charge session, and most units resume fast charging from that point.
